Let's name the 'ships!

Hi there-

I guess I was first exposed to shippers (and slashers) from the Stargate forums. I was surprised to see people who created threads and even websites because they really wanted to see Jack and Sam together. One funny one was the Sam/Cam/Lam trio (people who want to see a romantic triangle with Samantha Carter, Cameron Mitchell, and Dr. Lam).

Then it was funny with Avatar TLA fans to see they made up names for the ships they liked. And when those names were acknowledged at Comic-con recently, those shippers sure got excited! There are those for Kataang (Katara and Aang), Zutara (Prince Zuko and Katara), and Taang (Toph and Aang), etc. I mean, these are cartoon characters, people!

But hey, what about naming possible ships for Heroes characters?!? I figured we could make up the names of the ships and see which ones stick (maybe make a poll and vote on them sometime). Whaddya think?

Here are a few ideas for some ships:

Zaclaire (Zach/Claire)
Nathiki (Nathan/Niki)
Nikiro (Niki/Hiro)
Nikrelli (Niki/Peter or Niki/Nathan)
Simeter (Simone/Peter)
Hiromone (Hiro/Simone)
Isaacki (Isaac/Niki)
Claireter (Claire/Peter)

Um, yeah. I'm guessing others can come up with better combos. Let's see them! :-D

Also, in another forum, I was reminded (by a gargy-ish type that you might recognize) that Claire was underage, and I'm not promoting improper 'ships, I was just having fun mixing the names. And the poster also suggested "Clach" for Claire/Zach and "Cleter" for Claire/Peter... 8-)

I've never really seen this fascination with "hooking" characters up before. Has this been going on for a while?

I kinda like shipping, but only for love interests, like Clana for Clark and Lana on Smallville. I would use the Zaclaire shippage but not something like Nikiro.

It is quite a popular thing to do on Gateworld (Stargate Forum) as well as many of the Lost Forums out there. I think back in the old days (pre-Internet) a great deal of us always speculated if 2 characters were going to hook up, but now there are such things as Internet forums the curiosity is allowed to bloom.

I don't like when characters actually get together but I enjoy the lead ups ie)when they obviously like each other but no one whats to admit it and all the awkwardness that ensues.

BtVS has official 'Ship names for Buffy/Angel (Bangel) and Buffy/Spike (Spuffy) with fans generally being a 'shipper of one or the other.....I personally am more of a Biley (Buffy/Riley). And I don't follow Veronica Mars but I always hear of LoVe.

So 'shipping is pretty popular with cult shows, I guess that's my point :oops: .
