I don't know about videos, but I've downloaded songs from iTunes onto my computer. You don't NEED an iPod, but I believe due to video encryption it would be much more difficult to get the pilot off the computer. The encryption would allow you to transfer the video off onto a video iPod, but that's about it. If all you want is to just watch the pilot on your computer I'm pretty sure you can do it by downloading the appropriate iTunes software. If you want to get the Pilot off your computer but still have the capability to watch it, the only legal way I know of is to get a video iPod. Of course, I am NOT a foremost expert on the issue. Can we please NOT discuss any means that could even hint to illegal activities? Let's not turn NBC's free peak into something that will discourage them from doing this in the future. NBC, iTunes, and the like are being extremely nice to us, so let us return the favor.

iTunes is Apple and Apple can be "generous" enough to give away pilots (as supposed nicety of publicity they are extending to NBC........but, watch everyone will be using iBooks, iMacs, and iPods on the show--"scratch your back and you'll scratch our back", also known as "Product Placement") but in reality its a scheme to sell more iPods.........and make themselves look good........and make Microsoft look bad!! 8)

Ah I know that investment in an Ipod would pay off sooner or later.

I don't have an ipod either, but I do have itunes..I always get music off there. They usually have extras with new albums..I got 2 new songs with the Dixie Chicks new cd..I should buy an ipod though...Wish tax time was here, that would allow some money...

Right, you don't have to have an iPod to watch the videos you buy from the iTunes music store. You can watch them right there on the PC. If you're a lucky one, you might even have a TV out for your machine (lots of laptops do now) and you can out it out to the TV.

Apple uses an M4P format for the videos and music you download from them. It's an encryption of sorts, which is why you can't just copy it off and play it somewhere else.

Personally, I have a dock for my video iPod that hooks right into my TV with one of the little Apple remotes to control it. Makes for easy viewing

Hey gang,

If you read the full article that someone sent from Superherohype.com, the HEROES download on Itunes is only available if you get a free Itunes download card. The way the other article said it, it looks like you have to get the cards in a movie theater. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's the way I read it. The pilot is AMAZING, and it would be awesome to have a copy for my Ipod. . .I just don't think I live near any of the theaters they mentioned. For those of you who get those cards, hopefully you can get a few extra???
