Apparently, it seems to be quite an interesting coincidence that new previews for shows this fall have been leaked. Heroes wasn't mentioned. The leaks came from 2 different companies, CBS and ABC. Shark, Jericho, and the Class from CBS; and the Nine and Traveler from ABC.
Illegal downloading is bad! However, it is unsure as to whether CBS and ABC are sad about the leaks. They might be more upset if it is a common occurrence... Hence, let's not talk about it much from now on...

I can attest to the fact that 'Heroes' is not being leaked intentionally by NBC. I doubt the other networks released those shows on purpose. There are all kinds of legal issues that would bar them from doing so.
That being said with any show there are usually some changes to the pilot and the subsequent episodes before air. If 'Heroes' is out there, it's not the final version that will air anyway.
I think the whole lot of them were leaked on purpose, just like Prison Break and Super Natural were last year. This allows shows to potentially get a viral buzz on the internet and develop a strong following before the first episode airs.
Supposedly they traced all the leaks last year to a single critic who no longer gets screeners, but I don't buy it for a second. Why would anyone care about most of these shows? There is no demand for them to be leaked. People might watch them for curiousity, but nobody is going out of their way to steal them and leak them, there is no demand.
i never understood all these anal-retentive responses by studios/networks regarding leaks. it's like all those transformer pictures leaked onto the internet. the studio is going around threatening lawsuits and whatnot to get them pulled. so stupid. if i was them i'd take all the publicity and fanboy love i can get.
I think the reason the studios are so anal about getting stuff leaked, threatening lawsuits and the like, is due to the fact that if they don't do everything that they can leaking will become commonplace. If that happens, then they lose out on some serious money.
Why do they make TV shows? The answers are in the commercials. Without money derived from this area, it would not be feasible to make quality programming. So, why would anyone watch a TV show with those stinkin' commercials in them when they can get a free downloaded version without those pesky buggers? Plus, the DVD sales would plummet as well! Repetitive leaking would seriously harm the execs pockets. This is why they want to stop it as soon as they can.
Now, as for them not purposely leaking the pilots, I am still unsure. As long as they can vehemently deny any involvement while swearing to punish the perpetrators of this malicious crime, they might do this. Plus, it is in their best interest for the FULL pilot not to be leaked so that their still remains a bit of interest in the first episodes. However, this would be a very dangerous slippery slope for them and Suits hate initiative. On a separate case, never. I just find it a bit of a coincidence so many were leaked within the same time period by CBS and ABC. Most likely they weren't leaked on purpose.

I am affiliated with the show. Now, think about it. Why would NBC sign a $ deal with Netflix to rent out free advance copies of the shows? I know first hand NBC would never intentionally release a show that costs millions to produce.
