I've been catching up on my Ultimates reading, and recently bought the two Daredevil/Elektra TP. I have to say, they both were letdowns. Not very good. They were insanely slow, and kept building and building and building up to something but the payoff sucked. Plus, I didn't know you could make Elektra so boring. Cripes.
I think I'm spoiled. I started the Ultimate line with The Ultimates, and they were soooo cool. I mean, very different from the original Marvel comics, and they took CHANCES. Ultimate Daredevil just seemed to be like NORMAL Daredevil. So what was the point of making him Ultimate?
Anyways I was very disappointed with the Ultimate Daredevil/Elektra TPs. Heck, I didn't even finish the second one. I just scanned through it and put it away. I wish they had done more than just make both characters younger. Elektra especially was so boring.
How much younger are Daredevil & Elektra in the Ultimate comics?
Well when we first see them they're starting college so I'd say 18? Both TPs, which collects the two limited series, has them remain in college throughout. (Well she drops out but the series never progressed beyond that. DD never even wears his uniform. I don't think he even has one yet.)
Like I said I think I'm just spoiled. The Ultimates was just so damn slam-bang thank you man. It was so unpredictable and had such a radical take on the "heroes". Daredevil/Elektra was like watching a season worth of a teen show on the WB. Very disappointed.
Mark Millar is a fantastic writer. the way he kept the traditions of the old comics while twisting the Ultimates into something more is just fantastic. I'm dying to see how the whole Thor angle shows up. is he really just a nut or is he really the son of Odin? And Loki is there, so...
ah man DD/Elektra is really crap. All the cover art for the LS has them in their uniforms, but they never wear those. Matt is wearing this mugger's suit, and Elektra spends all her time whining like a little kid. Really lame.
p.S. The whole thing is told mostly from Elektra's POV, which makes it even worst since she's just another spoiled WB-like teen character.
