The Cast/Crew of "Heroes"What's going on with the cast and crew of "Heroes" within and outside of the show. Their side projects, individual appearances, etc.
"There was a moment on the set where (series creator Tim Kring) was with an NBC executive, who shall remain nameless, and the exec said, 'Hmm, you need to watch (the cheerleader friend) because that character could be interpreted as gay,' and Tim said, 'Why do we need to watch that?'" "Hereo's" Bryan Fuller told Out.
This information comes from Bryan Fuller, who SyFy Portal attributes to be part of the writing crew to “Heroes.” Bryan Fuller, when quoting Tim Kring, didn’t come completely out and say Claire’s friend is gay (Quote above). Plus, if you want a gay individual to make splashes in the show, make him a Hero. Of course, they could have multiple gay characters. Have a gay hero if you’re going to do it right.
BTW, who is Bryan Fuller? They mentioned him as a “Star Trek: DSN” writer, but this is the first time I have heard of him being linked to “Heroes.” I am going to search for more on this, but if anyone has any information about this, please share.

The following are some relevant quotes which were left out of SyFy Portal's snipping of the article.
Quote:
Heroes will feature a gay character, according to Kring and Fuller, who is now writing for the show. In the pilot a popular high school cheerleader with superhuman invulnerability selects a loner from her class to divulge her secret to—though he’s not revealed as gay in that episode. Kring admits, “I’m feeling a little odd about it, because I literally haven’t even discussed it with the actor yet.”
This most likely means that the friend is gay. Someone might want to argue otherwise, but that would not be me. From Out.com it comes directly from the horse's mouth.

Kring hints that there may be queers in the second wave of rotating characters.
SyFy portal did say something like this, but re-worded it a bit differently. A gay hero possibly?
Hey! This post made me a Nightwing! *Getting drunk to celebrate*

Now that it seems that Claire's friend is gay, do you guys think there will be some other male character that will come in as her love interest or will she just be going on without a boyfriend?
Well as with all shows (nypd blue anyone?) people will leave and be replaced as the seasons go on and the show is still a success. Nothing lasts forever. I mean just look at the new Doctor Who. They can't keep everyone together for a season on that one!
2nd wave of Heroes? What? NO..........I love this set......keep this set, dear God in Heaven PLEASE!!!!!!!!
Well, Kring's statement was a second wave of rotating characters. Now that I look at it more closely, I'm getting the impression that these characters might pop up in a few episodes, but really won't be focused on. I would imagine that they are used to interact with the main people. These characters could either be bit-part normals or bit-part heroes. Now, if one wants to make a statement of sexuality/gender roles, why not make the gay/lesbian character a hero thereby further empowering that character? Using a gay/lesbian character as a comical sidekick in a show dealing with heroes doesn't make as great a statement, especially since it has been done before (Original Cindy in Dark Angel to name one). Maybe the execs won't let them get away with it, but I live in the heart of cornfields, raised highly Christian-like, and as long as a guy doesn't come and kiss me on the lips I'm okay with it. (On a side note: I was once kissed on neck by a bisexual friend without my consent or previous knowledge, boy did I run! He also did that to another guy, we both looked at each other and then raced each other for the door.)

Just speculation here, but if I was going to make a Hero gay then my pic would be one of the brothers. Adrian/Nathan to give a politican something to hide and Peter because he's always done what everyone else wanted, including possibly repressing being gay. If neither of them, then I'd go for Hiro because of his fascination for being different. But other than that, I don't really see anyone else as a plausible gay character...
So, if one of the Heroes is gay, which would you pick? (I'm not saying any of them are... It's an unfounded hypothetical question.)

I said it before.........I really was hoping they'd make Claire a lesbian...........until I saw the Pilot........and then, I started to want her and "Zach" to be a super couple!! 8)
