Default Stan Lee's "Who Wants to be a Superhero"

I don't get this show. What is Stan Lee going to do with the winners? Is he going to write a comic book about him? I don't get how winning this competition can win you anything. Color me confused.

From all walks of life have come 11 very different people, all out to prove to legendary comic-book creator Stan Lee that they have what it takes to be a true superhero. But as they're about to learn, it takes more than a sharp costume and cool powers to be a hero — because for a true superhero, it's what kind of person you are that counts the most….
Here's more info on the show if anyone is interested.

Here's what the winner (And even the losers) get: The chance to thoroughly embarass themselves in front of the tens of people who'll watch this show nationally. This show will also give them a good reason to change countries due to the shame they will feel afterwards. Therefore, America benefits by reducing our misfits. Personally, I don't know how I'm not a cast member...

Hahahaha. Just read about Fat Momma...

Yup, the comic book. And also a part in a scifi channel movie. I didn't see anything about money. Seems like an awful lot of trouble for not much return. You would have to be either unemployed or well enough off to have no income for 2 months. Oh, and you'd also have to have a pretty tenuous grasp on reality.

Wow! Their own Comic Book!? How many readers do you think they’ll have? I mean, is the winner going to write their comic book, or is Marvel going to bring in a hired gun? (Edited: Not Marvel comics, but rather Stan Lee's Dark Horse Comics)

Has anyone else read the “Superhero’s” synopsis? Some of them are comedic, but most of them border on the bizarre and others are utterly flippant. Who are going to be these character’s villains? The dastardly evil Fruit Nut (For Fat Mamma)? Mr. Cell Phone Bill (For Cell Phone Girl)?

This just strikes me as a series devoted to one thing: allowing downcast individuals to eat a bag of potato chips, point, and laugh at the TV screen for the duration of the series. It’s Jerry Springer for comic book fans. At least, that is my perception without ever having seen an episode. Let’s just say I’m pessimistic about this adventure.

Here, let me create a superhero that resembles the absurdity in some of the heroes in that show:

Superhero name: Super Pudgy Boy

Secret identity: J. Joseph Howe, chemist, age 26.

Super powers:
  • • Noxious Flatulence used to subdue evildoers
    • Strength and Speed of a Sumo wrestler
    • A Hearty Chortle that can cause an earthquake to make evil “Shake in their boots”
    • Able to eat copious amounts of junk food
    • No villain can withstand him sitting on them

Vulnerability:
  • • Fruits and Vegetables
    • Never having known the love of a woman
    • Cubs fan

Fighting for… “The freedom to eat delicious yet toxic foods”

Catch Phrase: “Smell my thunder!”

From my own super powered computer: Using his superpowers to fight evildoers every day, Super Pudgy Boy learns through self-discovery that although he is Super he is really a complete and utter loser.

Great! Now I have created a superhero! Can I have my comic book now?

Does anybody else want to join me in the downright absurdity and insaneness by creating a Superhero ala Stan Lee’s “Who Wants to be a Superhero”?

This show just doesn't seem...right. Looks like they're just getting a bunch of geeks together to make fun of them. Kind of like all the auditioning parts of American Idol. They KNOW these people suck, but they move them on ahead anyway to get the "loser" out on TV so people can make fun of them.

I have to assume that there's gotta be SOME pretty good ideas for a new superhero. At least a couple of those contestants might think of something decent.

I already tried. They saw potential in my character. If I can find some spandex, they said I was in for next season.
