I am so seriously digging this show. I didn't really care for it when it first came on (I thought "Oh great another hospital show") but wow it's really great! Hugh laurie the star is so good. This guy should win every award that comes out!
Love this show! Funny as hell and really clever too. Smartly written and fantastically (is that a word?) directed. And the season cliffhanger? Brilliant!
Love House! My favorite episode is still "Three Stories" from season 1. It blew me away the first three times I saw it. (Yes, three. I'm a TV geek, what can I say? ) And then to have that episode win the Emmy for Best Writing...

If you ever get the chance, try watching "Blackadder." This is an English TV program which had Hugh as a supporting character in the last 2 seasons. In this show, Hugh played an utter idiot. It is such a difference that it really shows off his acting skills.
The one thing that both of these shows have in common is their dark humor. The fiendishly clever wit is superb in both shows, but even more so in "Blackadder." For most Americans (USA) though, the historical aspects of the wit in an English show are overwhelming. I get most things, but some go flying over my head so fast the sonic boom occurs 2 minutes afterward.
House has some great writers and actors, but i think the storylines in every episode are getting a little old. every episode there's some person with a strange, uncommon disease and somehow House and his team manage to save that person. don't get me wrong, the show it still pretty good, but i just wish they came up with some different plots occasionally.
Well, since it's mostly a procedural show, I would expect the "diseased patient of the week" formula to change much. Some good examples of formula-breaking so far though:
Three Stories
Second season finale
Episode where Foreman got sick
Several episodes where the patient didn't get saved
There are also a number of episodes where they do a good job of either making the patient/disease significant to the characters, or making the patient/disease secondary to the characters.
For a procedural show, I think they do a pretty good job of injecting (no pun intended) some variety into the show.
I don't really care about the medical stuff I just love all the inter-personal stuff. House's whole deal with Cuddy, his hooray with Sela Ward as his ex-wife, and his clowning around with his buddy doctor Wilson (I think is his name) are just so fun. One of my favorite episode was when he got Cuddy to invite a speaker to the hospital and then hid out among the audience to make fun of him. I was rolling on the floor laughing. This show is sometimes funnier than sitcoms!
