What about a social thread?
A lot of Forums have a Thread to kick back and relax in. ...a place for games and socializing... It'd be nice to have something like that to get to know one another.

If you're looking for something with a bit more interaction, there's always IRC.
It's great for just kicking around and talking about things with other interested people. My personal favorite network is freenode...
