There must be fans of the 4400 on this forum. While I seriously count on Heroes being better, a lot of us have gotten our super-powed kicks from the 4400. Any thoughts on the new season so far?
I love this show but I'm seriously backed up, haven't even watched the season opener yet. (I work at night so I have to watch everything on tape! )

I've been a fan of The 4400 since it started, and I think I can safely say that Heroes will have adifferent feel to it. (Also, I assume, a different plot line). What most people don't get about The 4400 is that it's not just a show about people with "super powers". It's more about these same people, being sent back from the future, enhanced by their technology to show dormant abilities they had all along. They have been sent back from all over time, reseeded back into the present day to help save humanity from itself - its ultimate destruction.
Heroes strikes me more as similar people with undiscovered abilities learning about them and dealing with them and the others in the world around them (including in that the Man with the Horn-Rimmed Glasses) from the pilot. The Heroes characters seem a bit more "gritty" than The 4400, but The 4400 has done a great job of mixing interpersonal relationships and the extraordinary abilities into a coherent show (you have to forgive them for a few "freak of the week" episodes here are there).
Definitely think Heroes will be grittier. I mean Ali larter's character is a stripper in debt to loan sharks, and Hayden's cheerleader keeps trying to kill herself! That's pretty gritty.
Definately a fan of The 4400. I never heard of the show until a few months ago. Somehow, someway, I stumbled upon the USA network when they did The 4400 run of 12 vital episodes at 9 am. I ended up watching every episode they showed and later purchased the Season 2 DVD set. I was in Lost withdrawal, and this series saved me from going mad during the summer. (Oh, and please no jokes about how it failed.) After yesterday's episode (Sunday) I wonder what is going to happen to Maia. A very good show which usually doesn't get its due.
