A few years ago I stumbled upon a couple of machinima videos on Youtube that really made go "woah" due to the sheer genius and skill put into it. The best ones I've found so far are made by guy named Monty Oum, he has made mini-movies based on games such as Halo, Metroid, Final Fantasy, Dead or Alive, and I don't know what else.

His best and most recent work is the Dead Fantasy machinima series, a mashup of Final Fantasy characters vs Dead or Alive characters. So far two episodes have been made while recently three previews just came out a few months(?) ago. Here's a couple of embeds if I can make it work:

The previews were shown at some anime convention and were only available through cam footage, but that doesn't make the videos any less utterly and completely amazing:

The end of Part 5 is one hell of a cliffhanger, I can't wait for the whole thing to be made.

I just checked today and it seems that the full version of Parts 3 and 4 are out already. Pt.3 was released on July the 13th while Part 4 was released just a week ago from this post.
