I would like to pose this question to all of us fans here. I think as a fan it is hard for me to still grasp that the focal main character of the show Peter Petrelli does not have his powers. To that I mean his original ability. I know in episodes his mother has said "You are the strongest one of us all". I know that in the start of the the season the future Peter had his ability. I pose this question, do we think he will get his original ability back or will something else happen? I think sometimes it has been hard to watch the main character not the same.
Personally, I think Peter will develop his ability further. Like the show's other focal character (I'm saying focal because he have appeared in every episode I kow of thus far) Hiro Nakamura who managed to aquire time travelling again.
Most likely, Peter will developed his ability into one such that he is able to keep whatever abilities he absorbed before instead of having the need to remember them like empathic mimicry. So if Peter does hone his skills to that level, he is technically still the strongest of them all.
Or on the other hand, one of the possible reason why Peter and Sylar have been placed so far apart by the writers is to prevent Peter from regaining Empathic Mimicry (along with everything else Sylar has) which Sylar also have. Since Peter have already conqured Sylar's Hunger, he should have no problem using Sylar's power.
All-in-all, we most likely won't see Peter at full power until Volume Five.
I agree it has been kinda dull watching peter without his full abilty and I think it was real lame the way he lost his powers, he had all the powers he needed to avoid it ( invisibility, mind reading, painting the future etc, etc ) its almost as if the writers could not come up with a story involving somebody who is virtually invincible and could time travel???
Anyway, the new writing direction seems to be dealing with it ok. I think i prefer a character who is vulnerable.
it wasn't so much Peter losing his powers that disturbed me, it was the fact that he was making all these moronic decisions and acting clumsy and foolish like Claire. They had him as the perfect protagonist in Season 2 and the beginning of season 3 and then it went downhill once Arthur was introduced.
Either way I think Future Peter is the sickest character on this show.
