I see many people have been complaining that peter has a new gay power and now he has to touch someone to absorb their power. I definitely think that he has his old power and have done some talking below to convince you.
B: This is messed up. If peter has a new power of touch absorption, then how did he fly without touching Nathan.
A: Peter has his original power.
B: Then why did he touch other people to absorb their power.
A: He was extremely weakened under the drug and drugs like that don't just wear off in a split second. He and the others were drugged to make sure they won't use their powers. So it'll take some time for their powers to go back to normal.
B: But he was close to Mohinder in the taxi. Why did he have to touch him to absorb his power?? Why didn't he use the power that he got from Mohinder earlier in the cab??
A: That's because Peter did NOT want any new powers when he was in the taxi. The only thing he and many others definitely want is a normal life. And absorbing a bunch of powers isn't gonna help him achieve that goal very much.
B: But in the first season he absorbed powers unwillingly.
A: That's because he wasn't trying to NOT absorb powers back then. But now he is constantly trying to NOT absorb any powers.
B: You're wrong.
A: When Peter went to the future, he was trying hard to get Sylar's power. That means that he has somewhat of a control over his power. He had been around Sylar many times but was never able to absorb his original power because Sylar kept it hidden. But in the future, Peter knew that if he tried hard enough, he'd get Sylar's power. It's just that Sylar's super badass and was stronger. This explains that overtime, Peter has gotten control over his power. He can absorb powers at will or reject them.
B: How do you know that Sylar kept it hidden??
A: When Peter first saw Sylar, Sylar had a bunch of powers but Peter was only able to absorb telekinesis. When Sylar was in the cell, that doctor dude was only able to trace telekinesis in him. Sylar probably only wanted everyone to think that he only had telekinesis.
B: You're completely wrong. I got a VCR and saw the 13th episode again and in it, Peter actually jumped to Nathan and after grabbing him, he flew off. He absorbed Nathan's power by touching him.
A: I like the way Peter jumps. It looks like he's flying.
He IS restriced to single power and it ISN'T the power like his father had. Mohinder didn't lose his ability when Peter touched him so he isn't taking those powers from the owner - he just uses some kind of mimicry on them.

Exactly! I feel like this is good for the show. It gives a sourt of balance to all of the characters. You can say that Sylar is still overpowered but he is the villian, its ok. It takes a team of heroes to take down the villian.

i dont like the idea of him being restricted to one power, and he definately did run and grab b4 he flew. Theres the rumor going around that one of the main characters is trying to leave the show and they set up a death for him/her for the season finale or w/e and by restricting him to one power (if he doesnt have claires power) that definately sets up for Peter to be the person to go... which will suck big time!
Also one more thing, maybe Ando could boost his emipathy up then that would make him back into a powerful bad ass, and did ayone else like that fact that Peter was becoming a bad guy in season 3, i think they should have stuck with that, it would've been awesome to see him just unleash on everyone (tell Arthur messed that up)
I came across this theory on the discussion thread and its the one that makes the most sense to me so far. I thought I'd throw it up here and see what comes back.
Quote:
Originally Peter’s empathy stemmed from his personality - ie. I nurse the dying, I am sensitive etc etc. In contrast, Sylar’s Intuitive Aptitude, which is very similar, stems from his analytic approach to understanding others.
Now Peter is being aggresively empathic, his personality has changed. He won’t give up on the dying patient etc. It makes sense that his power has changed with his personality.
Further supporting the whole personality change, power change hypothesis is what happened with Sylar when he grew an, albeit temporary, heart. He was able to use his Intuitive Aptitude in a very similar method to Peter’s power. This strongly suggests that the same power can have different expressions depending upon personality type/disposition.
Sylar IS a killer and a villain but he isn't the same person anymore. They WILL fight each other again but I don't really think that he will need their abilities so he won't be hunting them.
He didn't have to touch her. He had to make her feel empathy (?) for him. I liked her :/ But I understand Gabriel. He CAN do that but by researching throught someone's brain he can take some information from there.
