The Unsalvageable Future: 7 Years Passed
What if acts of terrorism evolved along with humans? What if a simple weather-manipulator decided to do the opposite of what a hero would do? And what if the only thing that armies could not fight and kill, were the thing that was destroying the United States?
It all started with a storm. The storm was not just any storm however. If the scale could have been raised a few categories, then it might have been able to explain this storm. Hurricane Ida was the official name for it and Ida left no survivors on the Gulf coast. Every aspect of the storm was perfect, so that there was no strong points and no weak points... everything was almost... planned. That year, late 2008 to be exact, the weather patterns began shifting oddly... tornadoes popping up in places where there should be no tornadoes, and snow falling in random cities, turning to blizzards and trapping citizens before melting away as if it had never happened.
The country was in a state of Emergency, with the wake of Hurricane Ida expecting to be the worst Hurricane in history and baffling scientists along with the newest Miami blizzard. People suspected the apocalypse. As the official start of the 2009 hurricane season commenced, with it came another storm. This one was even worse than Ida... if possible. It was the size of all of Florida with equal strength. After the clouds cleared, South Florida was no longer. The insane weather patterns continued.
By 2010 most major cities lay in ruins. People had evacuated to the west and to the surviving sections of the north with clean-up efforts seeming impossible. Global warming was blamed for the continuing weather all throughout the majority of the country. It was then that most people realized that this weather seemed much too planned out. In the wake of a string of tornadoes, the Pentagon lay in ruins... but not from weather. The building had been bombed... but with no traces of any bombs... anywhere.
Yet the country still remained ignorant to the weather patterns and even when cities began being bombed without airplanes, known terrorists or even bombs just after large storms, people just couldn't figure it out. Volcanoes along the Cascades chain erupted. New York was hit by a hurricane and in the aftermath, the Statue of Liberty was discovered to have been melted.
The last documented act of terrorism happened in 2013 when the White House was bombed. Due to the weather, all major systems of defense lay in ruins and war ravaged the land. The country lost most of its population during the "attacks."
And now in 2015 most hope is lost. Los Angeles is the only city to have survived the earthquakes and the southern west coast is the only portion of the US which is still barely considered to be unaffected, yet with over crowded conditions and violence ravaging the area, it is still nowhere pleasant. And in the rest of the country, only the strongest meta humans have remained to fight off attackers... those who are believed to be behind everything. The United States may be no more.
So here it is... 7 Years in the future. People are trying to figure out how the attacks were executed. The Southern West Coast is the only "civilized place left." Metas still lurk all around the ruins, trying desperately to save the unsalvageable. Humans are almost gone, and armies of metas have invaded to try and kill off the remainder of the meta-humans. Everything lay in ruins.

Re: The Unsalvageable Future: 7 Years Passed
So much had changed for Kelly Bourne in the past seven years. Only one thing however, had remained the same. That was her age. Everything else was different. Her powers had grown to extraordinary lengths. Her personality had been morphed into something almost unrecognizable. And her hair... well it was still the same as before. She now carried around a a sniper rifle which was slung around her back usually, she never stayed in one place long, and she was one of the fighters. This new Kelly was one person nobody wanted to mess with.
Today, Kelly was in Philadelphia... or what was left of Philadelphia. Buildings were piles of rubble or frames with nothing left but the concrete which was still torn and filled with bullet holes. All around, random explosion sounded as a sign of skirmishes taking place throughout. Clouds had also formed around the city... not a good sign for the weather staying nice for long. It was just another way to flush the fighting metas out instead of having to attack head on. The opposing forces seemed to be getting lazy.
Kelly moved swiftly around the side of a building, stopping at a bent over street sign. She was in the right place. She continued, gun still raised, along the sidewalks, staying close to walls and watching her step among the rubble strewn ground. She stopped in front of a familiar builing. Red bricks built up the walls but were spilled all over the street as a giant hole in the wall exposed the damaged remains of the insides. There was no door so Kelly just headed right in and took the stairs to the third floor.
There, behind a giant hole in the wall, was a room. Kelly stepped inside the room, quietly, putting her gun again over her shoulder. There was a sofa in the center of the room, water damaged and torn apart. The carpet, once a rosy pink, was now brown. There were no other valuables inside. A table stood off in the corner, the window was smashed, and the doors leading to other rooms were broken open. She ran her fingers on the wall, memories flooding her mind.
This apartment was hers and Ethan's. They had bought it six years ago, just as everything went to hell. She sighed, wondering where he was now. In the chaos, she and him got separated. She had not seen him in four years. She shook her head, remembering why she went there to start with. She crossed the room, heading for the next one over. Once inside, the red head found the desk in the corner and pulled the drawer open. Inside was a dusty and worn book. She grabbed it and opened it up. This was exactly what she needed.
Kelly turned around, heading for the door when suddenly, a defeaning explosion sounded, the floor fell right from under her feet and she crashed down a floor. She landed with a thud on the wooden floor and groaned. Across the room stood three of the enemy "soldiers." One grinned and flew the smoke from his pointer finger.

The past seven years had been brutal. Natural disasters, terrorist attacks.. each factor had played apart in the downfall of what had been the greatest nation on Earth: America. No longer was it a place of prosperity, of hope and happiness. Now it was dark, depressing and violent. The destruction of most of the country had caused a party of people to rise up. They wanted a dictatorship and it wasn't for a few weeks until somebody had decided to fight back.
Ever since then the country had been plagued by war. The city of LA however was one of peace. It was the only city from the noughties that was still in tact and, despite having different views, both sides wanted it to stay that way.
Ethan was not in LA however. He was in Philadelphia on the trail of a group of enemy "soldiers". Before they had lost each other four years ago, Kelly and himself had been hunting down the enemy. Despite the fact that they were always fighting it was perhaps one of the happiest moments of his life, however long that was. Ethan did not know how old he was for when he had been with Kelly he had been unable to keep track of time. He supposed he was around twenty six but he could not confirm it in anyway.
Turning the corner he checked his belt and found his USP strapped to it. He did not recognise the 'building' he entered. He made his way to the room he had been told about when all of a sudden there was a large earthquake. Deciding to get the enemy while they were in panic he kicked open the door and drew his gun.
Nothing however could have prepared him for what he witnessed. There, lying on the floor, was Kelly Bourne. The years were still being kind to her and she looked as young as when he had handed her his letter before everything went downhill. "Kelly?.." In his hesitation one of the soldiers telekinetically threw him up against the wall, his head making a bang as it made contact. Biting his lower lip he cursed in his head. Once again he found himself wishing for a different power.

Re: The Unsalvageable Future: 7 Years Passed
Kelly was still shaking off the fall when the door flew open. She reached out for her gun which had fallen a yard away from her. But who came through the door was last on her list of possibilities. Ethan. She pushed herself to her feet and ran over to Ethan. She had totally forgotten about the soldiers... until one threw her against the wall... pinned.
"Ms. Bourne, we cannot have you twisting around time on our watch." The "soldier" smirked, making sure she would not be able to move as the other strode over to take care of her.
Suddenly, the man coming over gasped, looking down as his body shuddered and shook violently, then before their eyes, he exploded. Kelly closed her eyes in pain... this was one aspect of her evolving power that took a lot of energy: speeding up the time on something by so much that they just... blew up. The soldier dropped her, whipping his gun out to shoot.

Everything happened quickly. First Kelly ran towards him, then she was pinned up on the wall then, the man coming over to deal with them blew up! Parts of his guts ended up on Ethan's trousers but they were so dirty already that the new layer of human flesh really wasn't that noticeable.
Dropping down to the ground Ethan brought out his USP and popped a cap into the telekinetic's head, leaving just one more 'soldier'. The 'soldier' started to use his ability and at first Ethan thought it was just regular electrokinesis, but then he saw the hole in the floor. This guy could emit lasers. "Christ." Ethan muttered to himself before swiftly dodging a laser. From the ease with which this man controlled the ability it was obvious that he was extremely adept with it. "Any ideas?" He asked Kelly as the 'soldier' began to draw circles in the floor.

Kelly snatched her gun from the ground quickly, "We freeze time and take him out." She replied, starting to wave her hand when the flood caved beneath their feet. Kelly tried to grab the wooden planks as they fell, but the wood snapped with the force and went with them to the floor below. Kelly landed on a pile of wood and concrete rubble, cutting her up pretty badly. She peered around Ethan in the darkness of the room they had landed in.
"Ethan, where are you." She called out, eyes jumping to the hole in the ceiling every second, waiting for the lazer guy to jump down and attack.

As it turned out the laser man wasn't just randomly cutting circles, rather he was cutting them so that the ground beneath Ethan and Kelly collapsed which in turn caused them to plummet down to the level below. Ethan landed awkwardly on a pile of bricks and wood but did not break any of his bones. Somehow his USP had managed to stay in his grasp.
"Kelly.." He called out in the darkness. Was she alright? Was she dead? Questions were spinning through his mind as all of a sudden a strong beam of blue light illuminated the darkness. Managing to raise his gun, Ethan fired off two shots both of which stopped by a well aimed laser beam that would have killed him had he not managed to move just in time. "Kelly, finish him!"

Kelly heard Ethan's voice from her left. She jumped up and landed with a thud on the floor, feeling around for him when she saw the bluish beam flash out of the corner of her vision. Then a gunshot. She took a deep breath, turning back for her gun. A sniper rifle from this close would probably kill him and then some. She fired up at the laser shooter... a dull thud sounded from the room above and she assumed the man was dead. Scrambling back over to Ethan she felt around in the darkness until her hand felt his shoulder underneath it. She swung her gun over her shoulder and wrapped her arms around him. "I'm so glad I found you." She said.

It had been a long seven years for Lauren. Terroristic attacks plagued the country on top of massive natural disasters. She had long given up the search for truth about her parents and had taken up the quest for survival. All that she had loved in life was gone. Swept away by the many tragedies. The Aunt who took her in after her parent's death, the friends she had made. All were gone. She took her Aunt's death the hardest. It was her last hope for answers. She had died early in the first wave of attacks. It was a time when things still seemed more controlled. Lauren cried all night after the funeral. Memories flooded her mind of better times. It was the last time she shed a tear. Her power had grown from when she first found out about it and she quickly got the hang of it because of her survival instincts.
The memories still haunt her, but she remains an empty shell, void of emotions, only striving to survive.
Lauren emerged from some ruins. She wasn't sure where she was, she just knew that it was far from where she came from. Looking around to make sure there weren't any soilders, she quietly crept along the shadows. The guns she stole from other soldiers were slung over her back. She had to be careful. There were eyes and ears everywhere and one false move would alert the enemy to her location.
Finding a crevice in the side of what once was a building. Slidding in she went in far enough to be hidden, but was still able to survey the area.
There was a loud bang of a rifle followed by a dull thud that echoed slightly. Then he heard the sound of feet crunching on the debris and looked up to see Kelly moving towards him, her gun slung over her shoulder. Her rifle made his USP look puny. "Yeah, me too." Ethan replied as he returned her hug, "it's been too long." He told her before breaking the hug ad clipping his USP into his belt. "We should go." He then said before heading for the exit.
