Which Front Page Look is Better?

Just thought I'd inform you, that when the page loads, I see a picture of a main character from Heroes, but then it gets covered with the white skin from the rest of the site. Not sure if it's intentional, but I thought I'd inform.

I prefer the new page's look, myself. Of course, I am more of a minimalist--web pages should be easy to read, not full of ads and links that clutter the look of the page.
