I recently ran across this article on Heroes that features all the usual stuff — a conference call with Kristen Bell and Tim Kring about the upcoming season, other stuff we already know — but the most interesting thing I did find that I didn’t know before was that, according to the writer of the [...]
I liked the title of Origins. But then again I guess the title doesn't really matter as long as it's good. I really hope it's good enough to retain viewers during sweeps. God knows the show needs it badly, with the way it's been performing lately. I mean, I don't know the exact ratings so far this season, but I know they're pretty bad compared to last year, so they need to find a way to get it up.
It's nearly unanimous that Season 2 has been a bit lackluster in the ratings and storywise. I think NBC has had to resort to some creative ratings maneuvers to keep the show at the top.
^ They're basically using the same writers from last season. The newbies still have to run the scripts through Kring and Loeb. I don't blame the new writers. If Heroes continues down the path it's going down now, the person to blame should be obvious.
I'm almost 100% sure there was a directive from NBC that they should do more Claire-centric episodes/storylines because of Hayden's popularity. That's probably why her storyline is the only one that shows up in every episode so far while everyone else gets short-changed.

Re: Heroes: Origins to Get a New Title
That is a grave mistake. Hayden might indeed be popular, but many Heroes fans do not consider her character to be the central character and her current plotline is going to drive some fans away.
I don't know who might be doing their market research, but they are sadly focusing on the wrong target demographic.

I don't think any demographic likes the Claire/West storyline. I mean, I don't mind them being together, but I don't like how the story is basically being shoved down our throats. They should've left the high school drama back with season 1.
They're going to regret focusing primarily on Claire come January, when 24 starts again. I had pretty much given up on 24, deciding to watch it only online, if I felt so inclined. But if Heroes going to write all of the other stories I might actually care about as if they were afterthoughts, I may decide to tune in to 24, and watch Heroes online, when I have time. I think the audience that would be interested in both shows is the one they should worry about.

It's the same old song, Math. Networks are always desperate for the young demo, and if they think Hayden is popular with them, they'll tell Kring to focus more on her. I don't think it's a coincidence that Claire is in EVERY episode so far, while everyone else has to fight for airtime. It's ridiculous.
