I will enact the option with the most votes 7 days from now, so it's your fault if you don't vote.
Just to be clear: At the moment, I have the signature and avatar dimensions set to be pretty wide, because I wanted to encourage users to express themselves. So if the vote for limiting the dimensions wins, that means you probably won't see the ginormous signatures that are currently all over the board, but they will be limited (height and width as well as byte size).
So remember, if you don't vote, it's your fault when you come back here in 7 days and realize that your sig isn't showing -- it'll be because it surpasses the new dimensions.
I have also edited the poll so it won't show who voted for what, so the votes will be anonymous.
I think this might be a little hard to enforce. its not necesarily the length of the signatures thats a problem as much as it is the size of the pictures people put in them. And policing the size of pictures is difficult

Not at all. The size of the sigs and avatars (basically, of anything people upload to the forum) are adjustable by me via the forum's back-end. If I want to limit the size of anything, all I have to do is insert the new limitations.
So if someone were to upload an image somewhere else and insert it into their sig using html, you'd be able to adjust how big it was?
No, I don't have to adjust anything. I would simply tell the forum to accept only sigs within a specific parameter, and if the width/height/byte size doesn't conform (i.e. too big), the sig would simply not show.
I think it is a great idea to restrict them somewhat. They really are getting quite large. There must be a way for people to express themselves via signature without it taking up so much space.
