Joss Whedon stuff

We used to just post Whedon stuff under Wonder Woman but since he's off that project, guess I'll make a new thread.

News from Comic Con is that he's still rewriting Goners but the studio notes have been constructive so he's zipping right along. Also, he wrote a spec script with Drew Goddard (who recently wrote the 1-18-08 project with JJ Abrams and worked on Lost, Alias, and of course Angel and Buffy) called Cabin in the Woods. Everybody's speculating that it's an homage to Evil Dead. Also, Joss is doing the Buffy comics right now and he's doing a free online comic called "Sugarshock" at Dark Horse's new/old myspace project.

Most important for right now is that Universal is releasing a special edition of Serenity. It's got a lot of stuff that wasn't on the first release for region 1 but was included for the foreign releases (for some totally insane studio reason

). One of the completely new features (i.e., not released anywhere) is a cast commentary with about half of the stars plus Joss. It's supposed to be nice and funny.

And the reason that I brought this up at this time is because I keep seeing ads here for the Serenity CE DVD. That's pretty unexpected for a movie that's two years gone! But it makes me feel a little woozy from the intersection of my two fandoms. Not sure if I can handle too much Serenity in my Heroes...

A really fun email I got recently was from Universal Studios about the dvds available in August (I edited out the fnl show so the picture would not be scaled down on the myNBC page...):

Besides the fnl show, the email had three of my favorites (HEROES, Serenity, and HOUSE), and one I liked way back when, Flash Gordon!

I need to get both the Flash movie and the Flash serials but it's pretty broke out right now. I taped the SciFi Flash but haven't watched it yet -- rumor has it that it's pretty not-good. I'll still watch it though.

THL, I'm not sure he wants to do another superhero flick. He had a pretty bad time with Wondy, partly his own fault, but it's left a bad taste in his mouth. I hope he comes up with his own superhero, but you know whatever he makes it'll never be as over-the-top "hero" as most. Although I think he'd do a fabulous job on the Silver Sparrow.
