Bolstered by action choreography from master of screen fighting Yuen Wo-ping, modern martial arts movie icons Jet Li and Jackie Chan are finally on course to cross fists in their first onscreen collaboration ever.
It’s a genre fan’s dream match some thought would never happen, despite years of a rumored Jet Li and Jackie Chan project in development.
A press release for FORBIDDEN KINGDOM, the $70 million feature that brings the two action stars together was held last week in Hengdian, China. The pic is currently midway through its China shoot and “on schedule,” according to producer Casey Silver.
Li and Chan have already shot some of their onscreen fights and according to Chinese news sources Chan, now 53 has mentioned that fighting sessions with his 44-year-old co-star have been some of the most enjoyable screen duels he’s fought in a decade.
Apparently the stars became so enthusiastic about their fighting matches that the playback speeds had to be slowed because the movements were too fast to see clearly.
Even Yuen Wo-ping considered the fighting too fast.
I can't wait to see that movie! Having to slow down the speed of the film just to catch all the moves. They did that in the Matrix, but I think this is more hardcore badass then Neo dodging a few bullets.
