Default Rules for the RPG

General Rules

- Be friendly and compromise with other rpers. An rpg can't work if every participant is constantly at each others' throats.

- Be realistic and considerate when making battle posts. No character is invincible, so don't make it seem that way.

- You cannot kill another rper's character without permission.

- Label threads according to content.

- "Private" threads' storylines are thought up in advance, so don't join one unless the posters give you permission and you know where the plot is headed. All threads not marked as private are open, so don't be afraid to post!

- Please don't make multiple usernames and start rping with yourself just to make it seem like you're a badass, because you're not.

- Posts must be at least 3 sentences in length, or at least 75 words total.

- If you see a violation of any of these rules by another rper, then please report him/her to The_Heroic_Loser, SpØkelse, or Ikin via private message.

Game-Specific Rules

- Characters can have one power. They may have multiple powers only if the powers are related closely enough to actually be considered one power (i.e. Hiro's teleportation and time manipulation could be considered as one power: bending the space/time continuum).

- Think of a power that would be able to exist in the Heroes world. This should be easy if you have seen the show before.

- These are powers that are banned from the rpg (subject to change):
Power absorption/mimicry (limited power mimicry is allowed, but only for veteran rpers)
Reality manipulation
Absorption of all forms of energy
Complete mind-control (limited mind-control is allowed, as long as you don't go overboard and start godmodding)
Omnipotence (Or "all powers")

- You must specify if your character is a hero, villain, or neutral. However, over time, your character can switch to another side if you wish.

- Characters cannot exist in different location threads at the same time, unless they are in the present storyline and in an alternate universe storyline.

NEWEST

-No cybercasts may be used from the show itself. (ex. Zachary Quinto, Hayden)

Default Re: Rules for the RPG

This is a little background on the powers of the characters on Heroes, via member Karambit:

The premise of the show is people experiencing extraordinary abilities. However, it has laid out a set of rules regarding these abilities.

Only one ability unless that power allows other extraordinary abilities. One can not read someones mind AND use telekinesis unless they are a power mimic or can steal powers.
The Haitian is a prime example for multiple powers. His ability is memory manipulation. He can wipe your memory and he subconciously makes you forget how to use your power. However, extreme concentration can override this.
Niki is extremely strong, but that doesn't mean she can jump really high or move at superhumans speeds. Her power as it stands is simply being able apply more force than is physically possible.

That ability must be simple.
Matt'sTelepathy doesn't mean mental conversation, it means being able to get inside peoples heads. He can hear what people think. In the future this was honed to being able to pull information of any kind.

Powers can be explained. This does not always mean scientific sense, sometimes it makes sense in a metaphysical way.
Peter has "empathic power mimicry." This means that by feeling for someone Peter connects with them. This empathic connection makes him alter his genetic makeup resulting in power mimicry. "Empathy" isn't defined as knowing another person's feelings, it's defined as emotions. He uses emotions to make a connection. Once that emotional connection is made he can use the same emotion to unlock the ability. If he's scared he'll opt for telekinesis because fear is the emotion he felt when meeting Sylar.
Nathan can fly. This means that he can levitate and move at any speed he desires and normal laws of physics don't apply.
Claude can become invisible. If normal laws of the universe held true Claude should not be able to see. Instead, he can see but no one sees him.

Unless a power specifically crosses science then it can be explained scientifically.
Nathan can fly at any speed because his power is flight. All science that applies is thrown out the window. Same with Claude.
Teddy Sprague can not simply make himself explode. His power is induced radioactivity, which means he emits radiation. Such a power allows him to become a walking nuclear warhead. Because he emits it, the laws of science applying to radiation do not apply to him. He can not be poisoned by radiation and blowing himself up will not harm him.
Claire Bennet has a super-fast healing process. Her body regenerates so quickly normally unsurvivable things such as falling or being stabbed aren't around long enough to cause permanent problems. According to this she was not actually dead on the autopsy table. She appears dead because her mind is disconnected from her body. Her power was still working keeping her brain alive without blood flow. Had she received a CAT scan her brain would have appeared active. She has no memory of being dead as her mind and body were disconnected.

Abilities are affected by the subconscious mind.
Niki can only use her power when the Jessica personality of her DID was active. She later resolved this and her power is not affected by it.
Hiro and Peter could not control their powers because they lacked self-confidence. The Future versions of these two seemed to have gained self-confidence from repeated use of the power.
Claire consciously wishes to not have the ability. She still has the ability.

These rules applied:

Weather Manipulation can be a power as it is a single ability. However, it would probably not allow electrokinesis. More like you could make a giant thunderstorm appear and lightening would strike at random.
Particle Manipulation (subatomic particle control) can allow just about everything because the way it is described is basically psychokinesis minus the telekinesis crossover.
Electricity Manipulation can allow a great number of superhuman abilities simply because electricity affects many things.

Pyrokinesis does not allow someone to become or fly using fire.
Hydrokinesis would allow control of water in all three of its forms, steam liquid and ice. However, one could not make it into a different form or generate it.
Ice Generation can not allow you to make yourself of ice. However, you would be immune to cold. You could encase yourself in ice indefinitely as long as you can breath.
