Some say this building should be condemed. Others think that it's an eyesore and should be torn down. But then where would the dozens of children go who call this place, well a place to sleep. Built in the 1920's this building has served various functions but in the last 40 years it has been a home for the children. It is woefully understaffed and barely clean enough to pass a health inspection.
Not that there has been one in years. Children come and go here. ALmost through a revolving door. But it is here where you may be surprised who live here and their secrets.
OOC: Let's use this to keep out of the Other Philly thread. We can do things there as well but let's focus here for now.
Amelia Pechlos
West Philadelphia Orphanage
Her Ninth Birthday
Amelia sat on the edge of her bed looking out the window. The early rays of the sun peeked in through the window and bathed her face in warmth. Today was her ninth birthday.
Not that anybody would actually notice. Nobody understood her. But it was their fault, really. Nobody, not even the old lady who ran the orphanage, had bothered to teach her English. Instead, she tried desperately to communicate with them in Spanish. But everyone would just turn at her. There was one boy who would always laugh at her.
Today was Amelia's ninth birthday. And nobody knew.

Re: Philadelphia Orphanage
Daniel T. Doe
Orphanage
A child stood, near a wall facing away from all life. He bounced a ball against the wall silently, with no emotion whatsoever. No grin passed his face he just kept bouncing the ball in a rythmic pattern.
He had a tendancy to scare both children and adults away. he was so silent... so creepy.. so weird. It amused him in a way how they feared him, how the little children within the room wanted nothing to do with him.
He stopped. The boy looked around the room the ball in his hands, and waited there. Daniel watched the children of all shapes and sizes run around the room, some were reading books. Everything was so big.... The small boy shook his head and continued bouncing the ball.
Jenny had arrived at her new home after her parents were killed. Her grandmother said to Jenny that she was a De torpedojager van de duisternis. But she didn't know what that meant. Only she knows that she has a power but isn't ready to tell anyone soon.
Not much was known about Lilly, not even a surname. She had been dropped off a few months ago. Lilly was normally a happy child, but there was nothing to be happy about her. The walls were bland, and the tiled floor was cold and dirty. The food was gross, and the baths were unbareble.
Lilly hated it. She was smaller then most two year olds. She was sitting in the corner sucking her thumb and holding on to her dolly. The last think her mother gave her.
Lilly saw a creepy looking boy playing with a bouncy ball. She was ammused by this. She wanted that bouncy ball. She stood up and hobbled over to the boy. She looked up at him and reached her hands up for the ball.
"Mine" she said in her baby voice, as if expecting him to give it to her.
