"Can I get you anything to drink sir?" I asked

He looked up in question

"Hm? Oh, no thank you son."

"Alright well, just let me know if I can get you anything."

I walked away from him. I loved people, I love my life. My job didn't pay particularly well, but it paid well enough. I lived on my own, in a small apartment that wasn't to bad. Life, seemed to be going pretty well.

"Niel!"

Laura had just walked through the door.

"Laura! Hey how's it going?" I asked

"Oh, fine. Just getting ready to start my shift." she replied

"Cool, well, I uh, yeah I'm just about to be getting off of mine." I said

"Yeah we both work different hours heh, kinda sucks but oh well." she said

"Well, I gotta rap up here, but I'll make sure it's clean for you." I said to her

"Oh good" she laughed "I've had to clean up to many of your messes lately."

I moved into the back room where drinks and food were being prepared. She followed in putting her belongings in the employee's section of the diner.

"Hey I thought, maybe we could get some food sometime." I asked

She looked at me in curiosity

"Well no! I mean, outside of here. I mean, I know we both work together and it'd be kind of weird but I thought maybe sometime that we're both off we could go somewhere else and sit down for dinner, just talk, have some..."

"I'd love to." She laughed

God that scared me. I must've seemed like a real idiot.

"Great, um, listen I really have to go for now, but I'll get ahold of you sometime."

She laughed again

"Alright, later Niel."

- Chapter ? "Can't Escape the Dream" pt.1 -
I returned home later that night. Arg, I was tired, but my date er, uhhh, my meeting with Laura is tonight.

**sigh**

What's a guy gotta do to get some rest?

I felt my arm burn. A rash had been growing for some time lately, but no fricken doctors have done anything to help...no creams nor medicines were doing anything about it, and it itched terribly.

I decided to just try and ignore it, it wasn't life threatening,...yet

Heh, sometimes I make myself laugh.

I laid down to rest for a few hours before getting ready to head out for my big date, er, meeting.



A white, wall? What, is this? Where am I? Heaven?

I saw a brightened figure, was this, God?

"Did I die? Am I, going to Heaven?" I asked it.

It did nothing, it just, floated. Suddenly I felt myself falling, faster, faster, and faster.

[Kilfer]

**Eeeahh, cough** I sat up gasping for breath. The, dream, again...what was it? Falling....why was I falling?

I looked over at the clock

"Damnit!"

I was already late!

I headed to the bathroom and closet and put on what clothes I could wear fastest. Afterwards I ran to my car and sped off.

**Time lapse**

I arrived at "5 Spot" a traditional Seattle restuarant. I couldn't believe I let her sit here and wait!

There she was! I ran in, gave my ticket and moved to her table.

"Laura!" I called out

"Oh! Niel! Hey, um, it's a bit late don't you think?"

"Uh, yeah I, sorry. I've been, having really weird dreams lately and, I just sleep through everything when I have them. I'm really sorry I feel so bad about this."

"Oh, well, we all sleep in sometime."

"Yeah but not on a date, er, meeting."

Crap!

She laughed at me.

"Niel, if this isn't a date I don't know what is." She said

"Right, uh."

Oh God, she's catching on.

The waiter approached our table.

**Time lapse to skip boring food ordering scene :-) **

"So" I said "How has your night been?" I asked, forgetting that I left her here for an hour, and felt like a complete fool for asking.

"Oh well besides waiting..." she said jokingly, but felt a hint of sincerity to her voice.
"...besides waiting it's been average really. I don't have any adventure in my life like you Niel." she said happily.

"Pfft, adventure, hardly. I'm just a guy working at some pub in Seattle. Hardly adventurous."

"Tell me about your dream that was so important you had to leave me here." She said smiling, I still felt bad about that.

"Heh, okay. Well, it's like, I'm in Heaven. It's bright, white. There's a figure, and I try to get to it. I try speaking, touching, feeling. But it always eludes me! After some time, I start falling, faster and faster. And then I wake-up! I've had it a few times, and it gets longer and longer each time."

"Wow, it sounds beautiful."

The waiter came with our food.

"Yeah, well it is. Aside from the falling part."

"Heh, a toast, to beauty?"

"To beauty" I said, we raised our glasses.

"Now let's eat." And with that, I smiled.

- Chapter ? "Can't Escape the Dream pt. 2 -
After dropping her off at her house, I returned to my own. It was a good night I think. I mean, it was late, but I enjoyed myself, and I think she did to.

I hope she did, what if she didn't? Wait, what if she really didn't like it? Does she like Chinese?

I was driving when I noticed someone in the street. I slowed down, honked. What the hell?

"Buddy, hey, get out of the road!"

Looking in the other lane, I moved into it to go around.

All of the sudden, he reached into my car and grabbed me! He threw me out of my car but I was like a ghost, I went right threw it! He spun and tossed me into the air.

Slowly, things began changing, it got brighter and brighter...and then I was falling, once again. I was flailing in the sky, reaching for something, anything, but I couldn't find anything. I fell into water. I tried swimming out, but I couldn't. What the hell? What is this.

I began suffocating, I couldn't breathe, and then...

**AcK!!**

"Damnit!" I said, throwing my phone at the closet door!

"Seriously?!" I started smacking the top of my head.

"How much of that was a dream?!"

I scavenged for my thrown phone to see that the day did pass by, did I meet her? What happened?

I decided to call her.

"Laura? Hi, um, did we ever...? Uh huh, really? I'm so sorry I didn't, strange things have been happening it's just been, difficult. Yeah, yeah me to. Alright, mhm bye."

"Damn!" I threw my phone again.

It's time to go to work.


My arm! Awww it itched so badly. I looked at it in the bathroom for better light. It was red, and had a large lump. I couldn't let anybody see this.

**riiing, riiiing**

"Hello, this is Sam's Bar and Grill. Whatever you want we ha,...ve it. What? Laura? Oh, hey there. Now? I'm at work! Oh....okay? Yeah I'll be there now."

I have to get there as soon as I can.

"Niel! You're still working! What are you doing?"

Crap, my boss.

"Larry, I have to go. Laura's in trouble."

"Laura? I see, go."

I bolted out the door and ran to my car.

Quickly I sped down the road, come on come on.


**Time lapse**


I arrived at the location she gave.

"Laura!!!" I screamed


Where was she? It was so dark I couldn't see a thing.


"Niel"

Huh? There she was!

"Laura! Are you alright? I heard you were. . ."

"There's something we need to talk about."

What? Why was she saying this? What's going on?

"What? What's going on? I thought you were in trouble..."

"I just needed to get you here."

"Niel, do you remember, "Project Quantum"?" she asked

"Project wha? What are you saying?"

"Yes I thought not..."the world is bigger than just you and me, good vs evil" and so on and so forth". You don't remember any of it?"

What the?

"No, I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Your dreams Niel, yes I know you have them."

"They are not, coincidence, they are me."

What the hell, how? What is she talking about?

"Explain yourself! Who are you?! What do you want from me?! Is your name actually Laura?!"

"No, it isn't. My name is of no importance. . ." she replied

"I want answers or I'm out of here."

"That's why I brought you here."

"Then spit it out."

"A long time ago, you and I used to work together, back when you remembered."

"But..."

"Let me finish"

"You refused to obey orders, you didn't keep to our agreements, and, one day, we ended your life."

"What?"

"We made it appear as though you were simply hit by a bus. But of course that's not what happened. We staged everything, we have many powerful people under our belts, and we had to kill you off in the open, otherwise you would've been to hard to kill."

"What are you talking about?!"

"You're special Niel! You have had gifts long ago. You were one of our best agents."

"Who's this "our"?! And what do you mean "agent"? " I asked angrily

"Please, I'll explain everything."

"Well you seem to be speaking in code."

"We had kept you in captivity for this day. Our organization, had grown, jaded, corrupt. We need to bring it down, and rebuild. The only one that can do that, is you.

Your dreams, were me. The entire time you've known me I've been impairing your abilities, and those dreams, were your abilities calling out to a long lost friend."

"I'm still confused."

"We erased your memory, planted you here, in this town, gave you a normal life. I kept you from becoming special, until when you'd sleep. You were seeing through the eyes of a lost friend. I was allowing you, to become who you once were, gradually. Until now."

She lifted a finger towards me. My seared with pain.

"What the?! Ahhgg!"

I was surrounded by vast water, with creatures all around me.

"What, is this?!"

I tried yelling but I could not breathe.

"What you see, is Leon. You, are Leon, but only here."

"Why?"

" "He" can explain that to you, but for now, we need you."

It started going black, my sight, began getting blank, and then, I was thrust out, my arm! It's bleed and seared with pain. Something fell out of it, but my arm came together like a weave of light.

A small orb had fallen from my arm. . .and suddenly, it gleamed bright than anything I had ever felt, and I felt death no longer. I could breathe, see, smell.

"Leon, if you're reading this, it's been a few years since I killed you. I told you, you were my "son". I loved you in such a way. By now you should remember all that has happened before your death. You should know your way here. Come, now, we must speak"

The orb disintegrated to dust.

I was pulled back into reality

**huff huff**

"What, what was that?"

"That, had been the death of an innocent man. He did his job as he should've. We had staged your death, to use him. Now, we need you. The organization has become corrupt by a new leader. The old one, your "father" was killed by "Leon"."

"But why would he..."

"He was being controlled. The new leader, has taken almost any power within his control inside the company, for his own. You, must stop both Leon, and him. You are destine to be the new "father" for this organization."

What?

"This, this is a lot to take in..."

"Remember..."

She lifted another finger

Images flew in my view at the speed of light, I saw everything, Leon, the bus, me, darkness, everything.

"I, remember. "He", was killed?"

"Yes. . .we need you"

"If the organization needs me, I'm there"

[Kilfer]

I remembered most everything that happened back then, before my alleged death. I was still shocked by the magnitude of it all.

"So, "he" was overthrown by another member, after killing off "Leon". They, they attacked and killed him. My job, is to reclaim the organization?" I asked

"No, your job, is to bring it to it's knees. Destroy it's foundations. We are not a part of what represents our organization any longer, it is time that we rebuild, it's what "he" would've wanted."

I nodded

"I understand, consider it done."

and with that, I transformed from my ability and swiftly made my way to headquarters.
