Marie this is serious. I will not loose you like we lost mom and dad. We are all thats left, so we have to train to perfect our gifts. We didn't embrace them before mom and dad died, we have to now. Our very lives can depend on it. What if someone comes to try to take us away, or even worse our abilities."

Cazray was trying to get his teenage sister to focus on her abilities, she didn't take them serious enough and thats why he always wanted her to train to hone her skill.

"Ray you are takin this way too seriously. I have a life outside of this ability. My education will always come first. Having this ability won't get me a job, not everyone sees this as a blessing. I have to focus on what will get me through life" Marie was tired of this battle with her brother. She only told him about her ability because she saw when he first displayed his. She thought back to that day........................


Three years ago

"Damn! I don't believe I got myself caught up in this mess. I paid that guy back, now he's saying I had to pay him back double."
Ray should have known better than to trust a loan shark, but he needed the money until the insurance claim came through.
"Marie go up to your room and stay there no matter what you hear."
"Okay" she replied. She knew she was gonna sneak and watch in her own way, there was no way she was going to let anyone hurt her brother, even if that meant showing her odd ability, she was fully prepared to sacrifice her secret for her brother's life.
There was loud banging at the door. Marie opened her bedroom door and shut it, but used her ability to go into the living room closet, it was super human speed, she was there in a blink of an eye and cracked open the door slowly.

"Where is my damn money u sorry excuse for a man?!!" yelled the guy. He looked like he wasn't too much older than her brother who was 21.
" I told you I didn't know I was gonna have to pay you back double. Just give me another week and I'll have it for you. I'm waiting for some money to come through." Ray told him.
"U want me to wait 7 days? Then you will feel pain for 7 days." The man closes the door and pulls out a hammer.
"Look Phil you know I will have your money man, u don't have to do this to me, I have a lot to deal with, my parents just died, and i have to raise my sister."
Ray wanted to put up a fight, by no means was he a punk, he really wanted to pick something up and knock the s**t outta him, but he knew the repercussions behind those actions would be far greater.
Phil would have his whole gang raid his house and force him to watch as they killed his sister, then they would take him and torture him for days before they killed them.
He had heard the stories. "That all sounds personal to me, know sit the F**k down in the chair."
As much as he hated to do comply he did.
If only there was someway I could protect myself from this blow, without harming him.
Marie, watching from the closet, her heart beating so hard and fast she was sure that one of them would hear it.
what do I do? she asked herself.
She could zoom out grab the hammer and go back into the closet without them ever seeing her, but she knew that might make things worse, because Phil would bring his army.
She knew she could even kill Phil, but she knew that people would come looking for him and she wasn't sure who else knew about her brother owing him money.
One thing she knew for sure, she wasn't gonna watch her brother sit there and die.

Phil swung the hammer at Ray, who blocked his head with his hand. "AHHHHHH F**CK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Ray yelled in agony. "Keep ya f**ing hands down and take it like a man." Phil yelled. "Man f**ck you." "F**k me?? HA. U better watch yo mouth." Phil told him.
Phil raised the hammer above his head down and brought it down with all his force. I wish I could protect myself. He thought as he felt the pain in his hand throb. The hammer started to come down. CLINK!! The hammer made a sound as it hit a blue looking bubble, that seemed to have a glow to it. "What the hell??" Phil said. He raised the hammer and brought it down faster and harder. CLINK!!!!!! "What is this s**t?" Phil said as he touched the bubble looking thing. Much to Ray's surprise, his wish had come true.

Marie watched in astonishment as to what appeared to be a protective circle was around her brother. She was relieved that she didn't have to reveal herself, at least not yet............

Phil became fustrated and pulled out a gun. "Lets see your little magic trick beat this!" He fired the gun three times, but Ray was unharmed. Just as Phil was about to fire again, swooosh, it dissapeared with some kind of streak. Rays face looked like he had seen a ghost. "Looks like my parents are watching over me from their grave, if i were u i'd leave and wait for the money." Phil told him "I don't know what kind of tricks or spooky s**t u have going on, but I want my money or I will blow this haunted house up!" Phil turned and left back out the door, actually running after he shut the door.

"Is everything ok?" Marie asked her brother from the top of the steps. "Everything is.....fine." Ray replied. "UGH" He winced as his hand throbed. It finally worked at my will! Ray thought to himself. He thought there were times through out his life where he was protected from things that should have harmed him, but he always dismissed it as a guardian angel, but now he knew it was something more. He couldn't understand the dissapearance of the gun though. "Ray I know everything isn't fine. I saw the whole thing from the closet. I'm going to come clean with you and you had better come clean with me." Marie walked down the steps and sat by her brother. Ray took a deep breath "Okay" he told her.

"Ray I have this power, gift, thingy I can do. I don't know how or where it came from. I've been able to do it for a long time, but until recently i notice that if i don't use it, it will just happen on its own, so lately in secret I've been using it so in hopes that it wouldn't happen in burst."
Ray didn't know what to say. "I uhh I guess we have something in common." "I'm scared Ray I've never told anyone about this..... Here let me show you." She sped all over the room. In Rays eyes it looked like a blur or long streak was going around the room. Then she zoomed up the stairs, to her room, and got the gun. "Here" she said.
"THAT WAS YOU??!!! You had me freaked out over it dissapearing with a blur." "Well I was terrified that whatever was protecting you would stop protecting you so I had to help." Marie told him. "
Wow, well the truth is I loaned some money from that crazy guy. Mom and dad's funeral left me broke and the life insurance money is taking longer than I thought it would. So I had to go to him with my ties to the street I knew I could get it, what I didn't know was that I had to give him back double, that wasn't originally part of the deal. Don't worry yourself about that, with these latest discoveries I think we are going to be ok."
She hugged him, but began to cry.

Back to the present day......

"I am so tired of this fight with you. I have been training and perfecting, but i'm tired of it. I would like to take my mind off of it for a while Ray. Just be normal for a little while. You won't let me tell anyone else, you haven't told anyone else, yet you have this big dream of finding others and forming this great team to fight all the wrong in the world. How are you going to find people if you don't trust people??" Marie told her brother.
"Okay I'll back off for a little while, but just stay on your toes. With that huge explosion over NYC and these recent dissapearances and odd acts of violence here in philly are weird. It makes me believe that there might be others out there with abilities like ours, I just don't know how to find them or reach out to them. I want whats best for you I'm sorry if I have been hard on u." Ray said.
Ray wanted to go help in NYC but he felt like him leaving would leave his city of brotherly love open and vunerable to the same kind of attack.
He wanted so badly to form an alliance with another gitfted one. But how? His thoughts were interupted by Marie.
"Ok. How about we make a deal??" Marie asked.
"Oh yeah? What kind of deal?" He asked back
"You won't harrass me about training until you find someone else with an ability?"
Marie thought she was being slick, because Ray had been trying to find someone for about year with no luck.
"That sounds like a deal. As soon as I find someone back to training for you young lady" Ray told her. "Deal" Marie said.

Little did they both know that their first allies would be coming soon.

The next day…………………….

Ray decided that he would take a train ride down to center city Philadelphia. As he sat on a bench in Love Park, he pondered how he would contact others.
He always kept an eye out for odd happenings, but he never lucked up with anything.
Actually he felt like his gift was going to waste because it had been a while since he used it to help someone else.
He thought hard about finding someone else with an ability, as he did this he notice that his forcefield began to show and kind of pulse around him, flashing on and off.
His heart began to race, what was it doing? He immediately looked around for danger, but didn’t see any sign of it.
He got up before it drew attention to him, as he walked by a banks huge window, he looked at his reflection.
He noticed that it wasn’t too obvious in the sunlight, but if someone did look directly at him and watched closely they could see it.
Stop! Stop! Stop! He thought to himself.
But it didn’t. He walked around a corner and down into an alley way to keep himself out of sight, the forcefield kept pulsing.
What is it doing? Is it sending me some kind of sign??
He wondered. On……….Off………….On……………off………on….. off…….on……………….off.
He stood behind a dumpster as people were walking by the alleyway.
In his past couple years of practicing his ability, it had never done this before.
The only time he noticed it did something on its own was when he didn’t see or know that he was about to be harmed.
He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and began to focus on his breathing, and try to get a vibe from the forcefield.

After about five minutes he opened his eyes and it still was pulsing.
It kept the same rhythm never changing or missing a beat.
He began to feel tired, so he sat down.
The smell of the nearby dumpster made him feel slightly nauseous.
He had experience some tiredness with extended practice of using his forcefield, especially when making multiple ones.
But lately his stamina had lengthened since he had been practicing on a regular.
But whatever it was doing, it was draining him.
Stop it, you’re are draining me!
It was times like this he wished he had a partner.
With thinking that, the field seemed to grow brighter.
Ray began to panic. He heard voices coming down the alley way his hear pounded faster.
He peeked around the dumpster, two people started walking down the alleyway.
What should I do?? He began to get nervous as he looked up the alley way the people were getting closer…………………………………

He quickly made a forcefield that would block the people from coming any further.
He grew even more tired and felt his self getting weaker.
He was so tired that he couldn’t even make out what the people were saying.
I need someone to help me. How ironic all this time I’ve been wanting to help someone, now I need help.
The field kept flashing. He was now laying on his stomach facing the end of the alley way where the people were.
He slowly looked up, and saw that they were touching it, but it was moving like a huge rubber band,
when they pushed it slowly pushed their had back. Oh no its weaker.
I feel so tired. I can’t keep this up.
Finally the field stopped flashing, but Ray was too tired to keep the barricade he made up. He let it go and prepared to be discovered……………

The two people noticed that the weird barrier had disappeared, too freaked out by it, they turned around and began to walk away, until they heard a phone ringing. “You hear that?” one asked the other. “Yeah, it sounds like a phone. Is someone there???” “Lets just go this is too weird, it could be a set up, lets just go.” They turned back up the alley way and left. Ray weakly pulled out his phone and looked down at the phone, it was Marie calling him. He didn’t have the strength to answer. He laid there and began to drift off. I can’t fall asleep in this alley way. What if………… Ray had fallen fast asleep.

Three hours later…….
