Seems this site's been around since the NBC Upfronts last year (I still wish someone had the foresight to archive/cache/mirror the "Claire & the Cat" digital comic that was available for that shindig...)! Anyway, Happy Anniversary, Sam (and HEROESTheSeries)!
So do ya have any plans for celebration? Any giveaways or such- you know, it's your party where you give us stuff?!?
Just kidding about the swag, but congrats!
Just wanted to add the 1st front-page message that I could find, just in case people don't get back there much...

Welcome to HeroesTheSeries.com!

Hello and welcome to HeroesTheSeries.com, a site dedicated to chronicling the upcoming TV series “Heroes” on NBC by “Crossing Jordan’s” Tim Kring, which should make its debut on the Peacock channel either late 2006 or early 2007, depending on how NBC’s schedule opens (or closes) up.
I’m interested in this show for a number of reasons: one) I was always a fan of superheroes, dating back to my rabid comic book collection days; two) There were very few information on the show on the net, and I wanted to be the first to start one and let potential and would-be fans of the show get together to discuss it; and three) It sounds like a cool premise, and I love cool premises.
So in the coming days I will be adding what I can to the site, including cast bios, show information, potential airdate schedules, images, actors galleries, and stills from the episodes. Please keep in mind that HeroesTheSeries.com has nothing to do with the show itself, and is merely a fansite for likeminded individuals interested in what should be a kickass TV series if given the chance.
Re: So, Sam, Happy (Belated) Anniversary! Any plans?
LOL wow, one year. Can't believe it! It really does seem just like a few months ago. I'll definitely get some kind of contest/giveaway thing going with the prizes being the Heroes Season 1 DVD box set. If NBC doesn't send me anything (and it doesn't look like they will, alas), I'll just buy them to give out. Any suggestions on how to do this?

For a contest, you could set an entry fee of $1 as the price of your ticket for the chance to win. If the box set DVD has a retail (or Amazon or Overstock) price of $50 (and there are at least 50 entrants), then you use that money to buy the box set to give away.

It's a good idea but I probably wouldn't make you guys pay for it. I was thinking of doing this via the length people have been members of the forum. For instance, I would have a smaller giveaway contest with people who have been here for a year (since by the time the DVD is released it'll be a year and 3 months since we've been online), and then the rest for everyone else.
What do you think? That way, I could reward our longtime active users, give them a better chance to win.
Here's how I would do it:
1 contest for people who have been registered (and has posted) for at least a year.
1 contest for people who have been registered (and has posted) for at least 6 months.
And 1 contest for everyone else.
Which doesn't mean that if you've been here for more than a year, you can only enter that one drawing; you could enter all three, etc.
If I can get those DVD box sets for $40-ish, I could see doing at least 5-6 giveaways.

The (before shipping, though it qualifies for free-shipping) price of the DVD set at Amazon's $41.99 at the moment (I added that price in the dvd pre-order thread), so if Amazon gets a best-seller on their hands, like the Firefly series dvd has been many times for 'em, they could conceivably have some good price reductions for the HEROES Season 1 dvds also.
