ABC has picked up "Pushing Daisies", a new series by Bryan Fuller, writer and exec prod on "Heroes"

Every once in a while a pilot comes along that completely shocks and surprises you with its dazzling beauty, pitch perfect cast, and its casual ability to create a whole world that you never want to leave.

I'm talking, gentle readers, about Pushing Daisies, which ABC recently ordered to series for the fall season. From the fertile mind of Bryan Fuller (Wonderfalls, Heroes), it's unlike anything you've ever seen on television, a Burtonesque vision of mortality, morality, and, er, pies that sucks you in from the very opening scene and never lets go.

Fuller's "Wonderfalls" was an amazing series too and I've heard "Dead Like Me" was great after a slow start. Seems like Fuller's got the Midas touch...

And, hey, it's got pies! What else do you need for a successful series?

The only bad thing is that we'll miss him on "Heroes".

This new show sounds promising. But it'll take quite a bit to make it on ABC.

Definitely. I'll be interested to see how they focus their marketing for it this summer.

ABC now has a 3-minute preview up on Pushing Daisies' web site. I am loving this show more and more the more I see.

I just saw the pilot on Stage6. It was the best pilot I've seen this summer. It's a little bit out there though, so I don't know if it'll appeal to enough people to be a success.
