take a look at this video of episode Five Years Gone At around 8:20 you can see peter and sylar starts fighting...and sylar summons his ice,then peter says "fire" and kaboom red hands. I think he might have got it from claire's mom.

he could have but theres always the posibility of repeat powers with different people. whether it was claires mom or not, we don't know yet. But somewhere down the line (for that possible future that was seen in ep. 20) he had met a firestarter.

Or maybe from Ted, ted can manipulate fire thru radiation. And I think Peter will meet Ted, and get his radioactive power, and will explode without knowing what is going on.

It would be badass if Peter met both Meredith and Ted and he found a way to combine both of their powers. Using radioactive energy and fire at the same time would be a great counter to Sylar's freezing power. Actually, it would be a great counter to any other power.

Actually, Peter says "Liar" not "Fire" in response to Sylar saying Nathan had already turned against his kind before he killed him.

Yeah, and in the new Entertainment Weekly covers, Peter is holding fire in one of his hands. Hmmm. I still think it's just a branch of Ted's power though. If the writers branched off the Haitian into being able to block ALL powers now, rather then just mental powers, they could turn Ted into a firestarter of sorts. Here's a link to the pic:

Yeah I have to agree with Mathsorcerer on this one. Ted's power deals more with radiation rather than fire.
