Hero will become famous soon enough
Default Plausible reasons/origins of the HEROES Symbol

I can't remember where I read it, but soon in an upcoming episode there is supposed to be another reason for the HEROES Symbol, other than it looks like a helix or a combo of the kanji characters "sai" and "yo" to mean "Great Talent" and "Godsend".

Of course, whatever the Symbol's true origin or meaning is will come from the minds of the HEROES writers, but I wanted to just guess at possible origins or meanings for it. I made, in the fan art section, some ideas that show how the Symbol is derived, but I thought of another reason why it could be known to the HEROES, or something of which they might be aware. And you can shoot down this idea pretty quickly too, if ya wanted.

[speculation]What if, since we haven't seen the left hands of the HEROES much anyway (there's a shot of Peter getting a call from Simone where his left hand is shown, but it doesn't mean TPTB couldn't say it just wasn't visible), the HEROES Symbol is a unique mark on the palms of their hands? Along with the lines that palm readers usually see, maybe they have some "extra" lines on that hand? I was just thinking that, if a person held up their left hand with their palm facing them at less than shoulder height and in front of them, with the fingers pointing to the right, it could be conceivable in a writer's imagination that there was an unusual s-shaped mark with a few lines projecting out to the left and right of the "s" in that hand.

It would be visible enough that, if Takezo Kensei saw it on his palm, he might've added that unique shape onto the sword (if the story goes that Takezo wasn't just Hiro who went back in time) way back when. Claire might've seen it and doodled it onto her book, and Jessica's tattoo might have been made as a unique mark identifying her. The Haitian's pendant might have been made for the same reason.

But, of course, that doesn't explain why the Symbol was seen in the code of Mohinder's dad's program, or give a reason for all of the "hidden Symbols" that have been placed in the show.

I was just trying to think of a sorta plausible reason for the Symbol. I guess it could also be part of a HEROES fingerprint, but would a warrior named Takezo take the time to check out his fingerprints?[/speculation]

If you were to come up with a reason or meaning for the HEROES Symbol, which I think has to be simple or commonplace enough to apply for the non-hidden Symbol sightings, what is your explanation? Does it just come to people in a dream? That would be an easy explanation.

Just wanted to see your ideas about the meaning or origin or the HEROES Symbol.

I haven't heard the spoiler about the new reason for the symbol (did hear one about a new reason for the eclipse, though), but I don't doubt you =)
I think it's kind of a "Lost numbers" thing. There's really no plausible reason for the Lost Numbers, or the Symbol to be anywhere, but it's more like I Spy for the audience.

I do say, I like your theory though. It got me thinking a little more about the Niki/Jessica thing too. If Jessica's is black and on her right shoulder, does Niki have a white one somewhere on the left side of her body? It follows with your 'left' speculation and why it wouldn't be noticeable...

I like the idea of each of the heros having seen it somewhere and thought it was significant enough to do something with, but that leaves a lot of spottings open and not really accounted for (like the program which you mentioned, the symbol in the pool at the Walker house, etc. Plus it doesn't fully explain why Niki/Jessica's tattoo appears and disappears at certain times.

Speaking of the symbol, i wonder if sylar is soon going to start painting those thousands of Symbol paintings we saw when Hiro teleported to the explosion time...

in the second episode when Hiro is in Isaacs loft and finds Isaac dead on the floor, if you notice, all the paintings around hiro are different variations of the S symbol. Isaac is dead so there is really only 2 people (that we know of) that can go back and paint that symbol all over the place
1 Sylar
2 Peter

Doubt it'll be peter cause he'd probably do something about Isaacs dead body lying there. so its more than likely Sylar...IF they still get painted.
