I just curious about Ted that if he exploded, can himself survive? Then how about Peter, he is the course of that big explosion in NY, if Ted can survive, that means in that explosion Peter won't die! Isn't it so crazy?

Ted didn't explode. He almost did, but it didn't quite happen. Claire was able to stop him.

Theodore has exploded before--read the online graphic novels--and can do so whenever he wants to, unless he has to "recharge" between explosions; he is immune to his own abilities, otherwise he would already be dead. He may be immune to external radiation, as well--I haven't seen any evidence either way.
