This, and Transformers, are the only two movies I am going opening night for. Which would be the first time in, oh, 5 years or so.
Not a pirates, harry potter or spider man fanatic then? I dont usually go opening night to the movie but i tend to go sometime during hte opening weekend. This summers movie lineup is intense and i'll probably go broke on all the movies i'll be seeing.

I did come close to Spiderman 2. I took my nephews the day after opening day.
I never go on opening weekend cuz my mom gets these cheaper movie tickets from her work that require you to wait 2 weeks after a movie opens to see it. It's not a big deal though, cuz at least I avoid packed theatres.
The only time I go to opening day is if I really, really want to see that movie and just can't wait. Otherwise, I don't like big crowds, either. All the jostling for seeks, the loud superfluous noises in the audience. It's kind of intruding on my "escape" for that 2 hours.
I usually hate crowds, but when it is somewhat of a geek movie, the best time to see them are opening night. I remember going to Matrix: reloaded on opening night. It was utterly packed and quite rowdy before the movie. People were dressed up, included a few ladies as leather-clad Trinities. (yummy!) But anyway, as soon as the lights dimmed, the place was dead silent. The people who went on opening night were so devoted that NO ONE did anything disturbing during the movie. No cell phone rings, no talking, people were even munching on their popcorn covertly. It was a great experience, even if the movie was somewhat lacking...
