NBC BUMPS OFF STUDIO 60 EARLY FOR MOB DRAMA
Two days after ratings for NBC's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip sank to their lowest level of the season, the network announced Wednesday that it is pulling the show off its schedule one week earlier than it had originally planned. Beginning Monday, March 5, the critically praised but ratings-challenged Studio 60 will be replaced by the mob drama The Black Donnellys. NBC executives continue to maintain that they will stick with the Aaron Sorkin comedy and that additional episodes will air later this season, although to date for its return has been announced. The industry publication Television Week commented on its website today (Thursday): "NBC's change in schedule following Monday's performance may signal that the likelihood of a cancellation is increasing."
Re: Did ya like Studio 60? 'Cuz it may get dropped...
The Black Donnellys is a really good show. Well-written, acted, and directed. But I don't think it'll last, either. Too violent, too nihilistic for primetime TV.
Re: Did ya like Studio 60? 'Cuz it may get dropped...
I really wanted to like Studio 60 and I have watched every episode in the hopes that it would get better....but it was slow and boring. There were some very clever and interesting story lines, but not many.
Oh well.
I still have Heroes, the Office, Scrubs and 30 Rock...so all is good in TV land. That is all I have time to watch anyway.
Re: Did ya like Studio 60? 'Cuz it may get dropped...
Yeah, that rumor of Studio 60 has been around for quite a while... I posted about it in this forum a few months ago. The show is star-filled, but it relies too heavily on Sarah Paulson. She just isn't interesting to me, and the whole relationship thing that is the main story just isn't believable. The show really lacks a spark. Too much star-crossed lover stuff and too many drug references. Coke, a joint, and "uppers" have all had their 15 minutes. It's bogged down by being too preachy and causes the actors to try to hard to make their characters lovable. I like it, but for some reason it doesn't excite me. I want it to do well.
I haven't seen the Black Donnellys. How many episodes have aired?

Re: Did ya like Studio 60? 'Cuz it may get dropped...
they better not cancel it.
i'm so pissed. i'm yelling damn it.
they did this to a certain critically acclaimed show on fox, ahem, arrested development.
it's so sad that people are watching **** or whatnot than watching a really great show. times like these that make me hate the american television audience and networks.
the black donnellys looks good. but don't cancel studio 60 for that. cancel your crap**** "grease:you're the one that i want" or "deal or no deal" or those other "reality" shows.
Re: Did ya like Studio 60? 'Cuz it may get dropped...
Grease is ending soon anyway. I haven't seen any episodes, but I'd have to assume that they're close to finding the winners. But they're not gonna give Studio 60 that time-slot. And they can't cancel Deal or No Deal, cuz I think it probably gets twice the viewership of Studio 60.

^ Anyone remember the movie Harrison BergeronIMDb Link HERE to movie The premise of the movie was that the government wanted to make everyone equal, but all it really did was make everyone equally dumb and unimpressive, holding the human spirit back. Anyway, they had to make TV shows as unintellectual as possible.
Does this remind anyone else of DoND??? Every time I catch a glimpse of DoND it reminds me of that movie. I start getting paranoid that it is a government conspiracy, but what might be scarier is the thought that government involvement isn't necessary. That our society is naturally heading down that path. *shudders*
Ya know what is also a bit frightening? Howie Mandel was an actor in Harrison Bergeron
