Im surprised a 24 thread didn't pop up after the last 2 nights of intensity. I missed most of the first and 3rd hour. But what i saw was pretty crazy. Im pissed that they had to kill off Curtis. He was almost as bad ass as Jack. I never would have thought that they would actually blow up one of the bombs. I figured it'd get stopped some how. And i like Kal Penn but kumar needs to stick to Whitecastle and Van Wilder.
I actually saw all four hours a week before it aired. Someone posted it on a site somewhere, I forgot. Too bad, I should have waited until it aired, it would have been so much better when Jack shot Curtis. I mean, DAMN, JACK!!

Jack always does what Jack needs to do, regardless of who or what he has to sacrifice. He really is a rather pathetic character, because at this point he has only the hollow shell of what used to be a life.
My problem with 24 at this point is this: been there, done that. *sigh* More terrorists on American soil? *yawn* Give me something new, please. Another nuclear bomb? What about the one that exploded back in season 2?
Don't get me wrong--I'll probably watch it. I'm just getting a little tired of the usual terrorists. Why can't they go after some white supremacist separatists from Idaho or Montana who are planning something particularly nasty? Or eco-terrorists?

Right now the mass appeal of 24 isn't the story, but how the show gets from one episode to the next. Nowadays I kind of drift off during the middle parts of the episodes, and only perk up in the beginning and end. Especially the end. 24 has the best episode-to-episode cliffhanger EVER.
Yeah i agree sam. That and i think this season is going to dwell a little more on the fact that since Jack was a prisoner and was tortured for that period of time, it'll make it that much harder for him to do his normal thing. At the end of the 4th hour we see him pretty much break down. Plus he had a hard time getting info out of the terrorist with the knife. I think they're gonna play up the internal moral stuggle a lot this season since its kinda been overlooked most of the other seasons.
Is it me or did I detect a Brooklyn accent from Sutherland there for a couple of times? Whenever he said, "I can't do this anymore", I swear he said "I can't do this any moe". You know, a Brooklyn accent? Youse instead of You?

I wouldn't doubt. Jack has done some fairly awful things in the line of duty. Improvised interrogation techniques, that is. Jack is all about "the ends justify the means".

The nuke in season 2 exploded in the desert, not in a major city.
and yeah, this season (kind of like a small part of season 3 was on the drug addiction) will focus on Jack's state of mind, and his ability to keep doing his job.

Well the whole Middle Eastern terrorist plot is just a red herring. 24 always does this: they introduce a major plot, but it gets resolved pretty quickly (usually around the 10th episode), and the REAL plot shows up after that, and takes up the rest of the season. They seem to be hinting that it'll have something to do with the constitution or that whole self-righteous crusading civil rights lawyer stuff that has been popping up for 2-3 minutes an episode. I'm sure that'll figure into something. Maybe that short guy from "Numbers" will end up being the real villain as he plots to overthrow Palmer. Then again, since the short guy is shown to be so EEEEEEEEEEVIL, I'm sure the writers will pull a fast one and make him a good guy. Still have no idea who the REAL bad guy in this season could be, though, although I suppose they could make the "Deep Space Nine" guy the villain...
