Dark Horizons (Link HERE) is reporting that a 3rd "Stargate" show is in development. However, it probably won't be ready for 2007 but possibly 2008.

Yes, I know, I know. I'm utterly desperate for happy Stargate news.
I wonder what the show will be centered around? Will it be earth-centered like SG-1? Will it be like an "Alpha Site" show? Will it be in the "Ori" galaxy? Will one of the main characters of SG-1 ascend, and the show will be about the ascended beings? Could it be a Prequel of sorts and discuss how the Alterans changed human history like Merlin and the Knights of the Round Table? Jeez! Can I be part of the conception team?

^Yep. It's just that RDA (Richard Dean Anderson - Jack O'Neill) wanted to retire, and basically didn't do much in Season 8. They actually joked about it in the 200th episode, which RDA appeared in. The problem was a) they started running outta good ideas once they crippled the G'ould and destroyed the replicators b) In Season 9 they had so much change it seemed weird. "To the victor go the spoils" and Stargate seemed to get actors that were in previous Sci-Fi shows that Stargate "outlasted." Not only Browder and Black, but Lexa Doig from Andromeda who played the Female Dr. in Season 9. And C'mon, how many times do you get to kill Daniel Jackson before people start rolling their eyes? Thing is, Stargate is light and fluffy and I would rather watch them than the psychotic BSG. If I can't get Babylon 5, Crusade, Firefly/Serenity, Farscape, or a decent Star Trek, I'll take Stargate! I like good space adventures, and BSG (BatStar Galact) is just too gloomy.
I agree with you on BSG. That show is just so unhealthy LOL. The thing is, if you even spend a second to think about BSG's "world", it doesn't make a lick of sense. I still can't get over the fact that they're flying around in spaceships equipped with faster than light engines, but Adama can't get eye corrective surgery or some other futuristic gizmo. Plus, they're still using PAPERS in the future??? Ergh. What's worst is how I always hear critics call the show "smart". Yeah, right.

With the right kind of looks and personality, an eye patch becomes dashing. It also shows that the character is human and has limitations.
It also portrays wisdom gained through loss. Remember--Wodan/Odin sacrificed an eye and was hung from Yggdrasil for 9 days to gain the wisdom and insight to defeat his enemies.
Anyway...BSG clearly shows that the creators were heavily influenced by Babylon 5.

The other thing about BSG is that there seems to be no direction to the show. The seasons go according to what producer/writer Ron Moore wants to write about at the moment. For instance the whole Iraqi War Allegory in Season 2. He basically shelf the whole show for nearly a whole season just so he can do his Iraqi War Allegory thingie. I always say I feel like taking a bath after watching that show. It makes me feel so dirty. But I also see how critics love it. It's the TV sci-fi version of an Art House movie and twice as depressing.

Rather, it is a cheap imitation. At least the creators/writers/directors gave reasons why they still had paper, and glasses et al. Most of the technology humans got from other races (Centauri mostly). Red tape and papers kinda go together and B5 made certain you understood that. With BSG, the whole gov't got whacked! You'd think that would lessen some red tape, AND they were the ones to CREATE faster-than-light travel.
B5, when they were wearing glasses (which I think it was ONLY Crusade but I could be wrong) it wasn't for vision correction but rather the lenses were for multiple system display analysis (And because the director Vejar liked shots of reflecting lasers off the lenses). G'Kar got a techno-eye basically as soon as he broke free of Centauri torture.
Where's the BSG's fake-but-useful eye? Why didn't they have a cure for Cancer for the President? They had to use "Cylon hybrid blood" to save her! And they CREATED faster-than-light travel?
Babylon 5 and Crusade were exponentially better thought out than BSG. Why does BSG get so much acclaim? Because critics by definition don't take anti-depressants, and when they see a show as messed up as they are it makes them feel less dead inside. IMO anyway. The only thing I get from BSG is "Life is S#!+, and it will never get any better." B5 was all about how just a few people can change the world for the better. In B5, life might be tough and it may never be utopia, but friendship and love can get you through rough times. THAT was real IMO.

Go to the head of the class! *thumbs up*
Also, in Babylon 5 you would have some people, like Garibaldi, who would be prone to use glasses simply because they are not high-tech; he was a down-to-Earth, hands-on kind of character...and possibly JMS's favorite.
It all goes back to planning--JMS had the backstory and plot mapped out in detail before shooting the first season, so his show was already self-consistent. Other shows begin with a premise and then spiral out of control from there.
