I have liked it so far. It is pretty good, which surprised me. Before the episodes aired, I was scoffing at a comb that could stop time (for ~10 sec) and other mundane objects which have amazing powers. However, the show is mysterious. Every hour it reveals something big, but it also brings up other big questions. It's worth watching.
Basic premise: Cop comes into possession of a key that can open ANY door and can transport him to a room that doesn't exist. When leaving the motel room, he can go anywhere with a keyholed, doornobbed door. People want this key, so they kidnap his daughter. Then, during the exchange she actually gets thrown into the room, which resets to May 4, 1961 if you don't have the key. Hence, daughter is trapped in room and he can't get to her. Various groups/people want to collect all the objects (around 100 or so apparently) for various reasons. In order to save his daughter, he must navigate through these various groups to find the answer of how to get his daughter back.

erm...his goal is to be reunited with his daughter, the room resets to 4 May 1961 if you don't have the key, the daughter was placed in the room without a key, so...
...the easy answer to his solution is to enter the room without the key to be sent to the same time as his daughter. Yes, they would be stuck in 1961, but what is more important to him? His daughter or the date?

That's what I've been thinking! However, one small quirk...That room never existed! Not even in 1961, stuff from the room just started appearing, starting with the key from the room. At least, that's what I gathered from wathcing the show. I could've misunderstooded someding. Anyway, basically it is believed that she wasn't transported back to 1961, but rather some "limbo." I think....I dunno
i dvr'd the series and watched the first episode last night. i usually don't catch too many mini-series but i wanted to watch this one because Peter Krause is in it and i was a huuuuuuuuuge 6 feet under fan.
overall i think it is great and only going to get better. it will be interesting to see what other objects there are and what powers they possess. good stuff.
