If you watch the video again, you see as Nathan walks up to Peter, Peter walks back a little bit and he starts to glow brighter as Nathan comes closer.
You see Hiro and Ando there... it looks like they have that "this is supposed to happen" look on their faces. Actually Claire does too.
Nathan must know all those powers are causing Peter to malfunction
The question is: Is Nathan's intention good or bad by causing him to explode?
Also I have a prediction:
Well I think in the end of this season, Peter uses Hiro's time travelling powers right before he explodes and goes forward in time. This sets the scenario for season 2 where Peter's been missing for a year, maybe more than that, and Nathan has already won the election, and more mutants are rising. Maybe Sylar becomes more powerful as well. That's my prediction for this show.

Were I to get paid what he is getting paid to act in a hit TV show, I'd probably be a little smarmy, too. hmm....well, probably not--I'm fairly elitist already, but I'm not an ass about it.

Actually, I think what's happening here is that Nathan represents Sylar in his dream (just like the dream where Nathan comes to visit Peter in jail and then turns into Sylar - I think that scene is key to understaning the big dream).
From what I've been able to accertain from other spoilers is that Sylar kills Ted and then Peter gets Teds ability through Sylar. It looks like Sylars abilities are unhealthy for Peter because thats when he started getting sick.
I think the dream is basically saying that if Peter confronts Sylar without being ready, he'll jeopardize the world - hence the need for Claude.

Heh, ya know - maybe Peter sends himself back to the prehistoric age and when he goes nuclear there it's what really wiped out the dinosaurs. So Hiro has to go back in time and rescue Peter before he goes boom and faces a t-rex! LMAO j/k

Thats actually an amazing theory.

Oh no; now you've blown the surprise ending.... Syler eats Nikki's brain, becomes good and remorseful, and fixes everything to back to the way it was!!!!
I'm in agreement, that we can't necessarily trust Peter's dreams... who knows what Syler's psychotic behaviour; mishmash of powers; the latest addition of telepathy and his completely confused perception of time will do to them.
That being said, it'd interesting that he's having dreams of what seem to be the future... since nobody has exhibited that specific form of precognitive power. So obviously, he's not simply an "absorber of power"; the power changes. But, I can see the writer's creating a corner in which the only way out will be Peter dying. If they don't put limits on the powers he retains, he's eventually going to be too powerful to write around.

Peter would only become "too powerful" if everyone is nearby; in this instance, I would suspect that he would possess too many powers to control them all correctly, especially if he copies Theodore's power.
