If You Signed Up But Didn't Get Activated, Read This
Well, the spamming has gotten so out of control (about 5 a day now), that I will now be personally activating all new members. As a result, I may not activate you believing you are a spammer, and if that's the case, and you are not one, please email me at sam@heroestheseries.com and I shall activate you.

It's a shame that it has to come to that. However, I would hate for the forum to suffer because of it.

Yeah, I hate to do it, too. Hopefully when I switch us over to VB they'll be tougher spam controls. But the thing is, even with phpbb, I still required users to activate their account, so it's not like they're using spam bots. The spammers themselves are signing up, waiting a day or two (or a week) and then spamming. It's ridiculous. I've already started going backwards among our members list and pre-emptively banning users who has spam websites in their website profile.

I know some guys who run two other boards; they have to do the same thing and have the same aggravating frustration that you are now experiencing.

I just noticed about 3 that have signed up in the past few hours. Its kind of ridiculous. I wonder if its just the same guy over and over again.
