Hello everyone. My name is Chris and I'm in Chicago. I told myself I did not want to get hooked on any new shows this season. I'm going to start my master's degree program soon and I don't need any more distractions. Then, dangit, Heroes came along. I was hooked immediately.
As successful as this show is I doubt it's going anywhere, but I do hope that should the show get cancelled that NBC will give us closure unlike Surface last year. (Please NBC? )
However, I don't feel this show is going anywhere. I think, like X-Men, the average person can relate to the characters. Claire is dealing with these powers while dealing with high school. The Petrellis are keeping up the family dynamic while one denies his powers and the other is going full blast into finding more.
I say, completely tongue-in-cheek that I'm a big Heroes geek. Proudly stuck and devoted to this show. It's the first show in a long time that warrants requests to friends and family not to call me during the show's time. (Yes, it is being recorded on TiVo, but still... don't bother me for that one hour.
Thanks for putting up the forum. It's great to find others out there.... like me... with something different from the rest of the population.
Welcome to the forum! I gotta disagree with you on how you think the show isn't going anywhere though. Everything that has happened so far is leading up to something pretty big. And the show's definitely not gonna get canceled anytime soon (15 million viewers each week proves that). I liked Surface, but it had mediocre ratings, which is not a problem for Heroes.
THL is correct! Heroes was the first new show to get a full series, and NBC came begging to Tim Kring to expand the 22 episodes into 23 or 24, to which Tim Kring said okay to 23 episodes this first season. Heroes for every week has amazing Nielson ratings (#1 in the prized 18-49 age group on Mondays) which have been steadily climbing nearly every week. This show ain't goin' anywhere, so you won't have to worry about it getting canceled.
Hey, I'm about 1.5 hours away from Chicago, and I spent some time their. How long have you been there? If you're new to the area, there are some great places to visit.

First, I think I didn't get my idea across properly - my bad on miscommunication. My meaning was as successful as the show is (and it is) it is safe in it's spot. It is NOT going anywhere toward Cancelville I meant. I PRAY this show stays where it is! As far as where the show is going for storyline... BOY is it going somewhere... it's going in 9 or 10 directions toward somewhere!
Tobnameless - Never heard of Blue Suede Shoes. I'm in the city and don't get out to the burbs much so if it's out there I haven't run across it yet.
SOG, where are you? in the realm of Chicago, 1.5 hours away isn't too far! I've been here since 2000 and one thing I've come to find is that even after 6 years... there's still plenty of places to go... especially when it comes to restaurants!
I am NW of Chicago, along the path of nowhere. Basically, I am 30 miles or so past Elgin. You don't know Harvard, but that's where basically. It's an hour and a half WITHOUT traffic, WITH Monday morning traffic it has been 4-5 hours.
The Wednesday before Thanksgiving I stopped my vehicle, parked, and took the El train, blue line, the rest of the way in after 4 hours of being in traffic.
Sometimes the sub-urbs of Chicago are the best part. The South Side St. Patty's Day parade is amazing, but if you don't get there by 8 AM good luck getting in a bar. Naperville (South) and Skokie (North) are great places to escape the city.
Lincoln Park and Wrigleyville are great places to hang out.

By the way, Blue Suede Shoes was or is a bar that I used to frequent when I lived at North Chicago Naval Base. There were phones at every table and you could dial from table to table with the lighted numbers that sat above each table or booth. I won a dirty dancing competition there. Got ina few fights, was arrested, met some girls, did things that shouldn't be repeated in public, and puked a couple of times. Wow what fun my younger life was.
