I'm not sure where I heard this, but I think researchers have found that a dark background with white letters is easier on the muscles in eyes, versus black letters with white background. Black letters on white background cause your eyes to strain almost as when looking at dirt on a clean surface.

This is one of the reasons why I liked this forum so much, the white letters are easier to pick up. This isn't a complaint or suggestion, unless when you decide to change the layout in the future, you remember this post, then it IS a suggestion.

I almost always alter my computer's color scheme to a dark green background with lighter letters. It really is easier on your eyes.
