Anyone else waiting for this with as much anticipation as I? I mean one of the greatest battles in greek mythology, Frank Millers great graphic novel and Gerad Buttler, who I rate as an amazing actor that hasnt quite got his big break yet. For the ladies you need to see the physique to believe it, I'm not gay but that guy is awesome.

I've heard some very good things about this movie, but I'm not entirely sure what it's about. Doesn't it involve some war in ancient times?
It tells the story of how the Spartans, 300 of them, led by their King Leonidas, stopped the Persian army (100's of 1000's strong) as they advanced to conquer Greece in Hellanic times. The Spartans were able to slow down the Persians enough (a few days, I think, maybe more) for the rest of Greece to get their, as they say, **** together and form a unified army to defend their homeland against the invaders. As it turned out, the Spartans' last stand (they were eventually betrayed by one of their own) was enough time for the Greeks to win the war. Basically that's the whole story. It begins with the Spartans marching to Thermopylae (The Hot Gates) and then the battle itself. From what I can see via the main site and trailers, the director is very VERY faithful to Miller's comics. Then again, the comics were basically storyboards, and the director did wonders with it. You guys can check out the trailer for it here. It's guaranteed badassness at its finest.
Think Sin City in ancient Greece, stylised cinematography, great acting, pretty girls and men chissled from solid granite. Really an underdog sort of story but the Spartans were supposed to be the greatest warriors on earth. They were tought war from the day they were born, any that were not strong enough were killed or thrown away. Harsh I know but it worked for them, these guys were bad ass. If you have an interest in this dont just look it up buy Frank Millers book 300 and check out info on the battle of thermopylae.
