The best software (re: free) I found only allows 10 people at a time in a chat room...

The best software I could find that allows 100 or more costs $299 for 100 people at a time. If I want more people at a time it's $499 and up... I had no idea it was expensive! Any other ideas on getting a chat up, guys? Maybe IRC...

AIM/AOL chatrooms maybe. I hate AOL but i use AIM all the time and i think they allow group chats. Maybe before the show starts, either you or a MOD create a chat and post the name and what not in a thread so that others may go to it (or everyone interested post their screen names in that particular thread so that they may be invited to the chat.) Not sure how AIM chat works (if it does at all) but i think thats the way the AOL chats used to work. maybe they still do. I dont know about yahoo messenger or icq or whatever though

yahoo also allows conference chatting. I don't know what the population limits are.

I think for AIM, its like 25-30, but im not sure. Anyways i figure this is how it would work

1) Have anyone interested in chatting, either post their AIM screen name in a thread or PM it to the Admin/mod. (if people are worried about keeping their real AIM names confidential, they can create a new name solely for this purpose since its free.

2) Mod/Admin puts those names in their buddy list and when the show comes on, invites all those members from their buddy list into a chatroom. If anyone else from that group signs on during the show, invite them as well.

I'd be more than willing to do this on show nights. Im usually online on monday nights during the show because i don't have work or school. If this is something that you think would work and would want me to do, i can start a thread somewhere for people to add their names to or i could start a thread telling people to PM me their AIM names so that they aren't actually posted on the board for everyone to see. Once i have their names, i can invite them into chats on the nights the new episodes air. It'd be really simple.
