I'm not a nerd, at least I don't think so. I have been a drag racer, a cowboy, ex-military, most popular guy in school, oh yeah I was in band, went to summer camp, collected comicbooks, had long hair, played piano, maybe I am a nerd?!
My own personal definition of geek (or nerd, if you insist), is a person who follows their own interests regardless of whether those interests are mainstream or considered 'cool' by people who like to think of themselves as cool. That's right. Geekdom is the badge of non-conformity! Go geeks! Of course people who try to be cool are usually trying way too hard and end up being quite banal. Did I mention that I love irony? All the coolest people I know are at least a little bit geeky. So my motto is, go on and embrace your inner geek. You'll be cooler for it.
When it comes to certain things, im totally an nerd. Im pretty much obsessed with this show, and thats never happened to me before. But I like a lot of the comic book figures too (even though i didn't really read comics, i just grew up watching their TV show interpretations, haha). Everyones a little bit nerdy about something. Some people love comics, or video games, or dungeons and dragons, or warcraft, or pokemon or whatever, but that doesn't mean they're 100% nerdy in everything that they do. me and a bunch of my friends love this show but we all still have pretty normal college lives. My girlfriend even called me a nerd and dorky for how into this show i was getting, but then i made her watch it and then by episode 4, she was like "ok hurry put on the next one, i wanna see what happens". haha
