So going with that premise, here's what Fishypants said so far about Sylar and HRG (aka Claire's "dad", and yes, "Syler" is misspelled by him, but no worries...):
From 3 Oct:
Quote:
Syler is not her dad, the character has not yet been cast.
In the very next post:

Also her dad is actually not a bad guy, but instead there to protect all the heroes. You'll find out in later episodes.
No really! The character has not been cast yet. I actually work on the show's effects. We are finishing up episode 4 at the moment. If you guys liked the pilot and episode 2 then wait till you see the next ones!
claire's dad is actually out to help the heroes. Anybody figure out who the person talking to Peter in the train is yet? Its in the preivew for next week. Hehehe. If you look closely you can figure it out. ;-) good luck!
And if other spoilers are to be believed, then Peter's talkin' with an older Hiro on the train! 8-)
Update (as of 19 Oct)!!!

Apparently the information about HRG is incorrect. I would probably remove the info about him being good, because its not accurate.
So now the idea that HRG is good and wants to protect the HEROES is INCORRECT, and Sylar had not even been cast when Fishypants made his posts! ;-)
NOTE: Some details were edited for content and to fit your screen. 8)
An older Hiro? The guy who was talking to Peter sounded like he was fluent in English. I guess maybe Hiro learns to speak much better English later on?

So naturally by the news of an older Hiro, then New York doesn't go bye-bye! Stop the press! No wait; of course the HEROES have got it covered... Phew- that was tense for a moment!
Oh wait, we still have to see how they do it.
Anyone have any idea what H.R.G. stands for, or what his partner's power is? Obviously is something telekenetic, as he can block his own mind and others from being read.
Who is H.R.G. working for and why?

HRG = Horned Rimmed Glasses guy, because we don't know his name and he wears, well, horned rimmed glasses. His partner's power seems to be some some of telepathy. He wipes Matt's mind after they have experimented on him.
First, Fishypants, if you deleted your posts because I brought attention to them and you got in trouble, I apologize. And to anyone reading this, note the "slight" change of info in the first post... :o
You have a history of writing some of the most duplicitous characters in television, with folks like Arvin Sloane and Irina Derevko. Will we be seeing "gray" characters of that sort in Heroes?
Gray. And duplicity. It all comes down to point of view. If an audience understands where a villain is coming from, why they are making the choices they do -- it grounds that character in a relatable way. Certainly even villains have friends, have things they care about, people they love. It's important to never think of someone as a straight-up villain, but to imagine those characters as the hero of their own show. Their story is just as valid as the story the protagonist is pursuing -- it just might involve the significant death of innocent people via nuclear holocaust, rage virus, gunshot -- whatever. The character of "Horn Rimmed Glasses" on our show will very much be such a person. We will see him working against our characters, yet we will also see how much he cares about his daughter -- Claire. The choices HRG will be forced to make this year -- will be some of the most water cooler moments of Heroes.
yeah well I think it's possible that HRG might be trying to bring the heroes together but the way he seems to be portrayed right now, he is trying to do something more advanced...i was thinking that me might have been partners with papa suresh or collegues and they either had a fallingout because of the direction of the research or someone found out what they were doing (i.e. Sylar and/or Patient Zero) and now he needs to find the Heroes before the "bad guy" does...

To fight evil one must know evil. For as our good actions reflect in our actions, evil resides in the darkest part of our souls.
It's funny, but when I was watching the episode again earlier today, the narrator calls HRG "The face of evil". I don't know about that. Sounds like the show is trying to throw us off, or maybe he IS the "face of evil"...?
