Do you think the Skull Rings that D.L.'s group wore are somehow related to the people's skulls with their tops missing? The skull on the rings has more of a flat top than a round one, so it reminded me of the popped-top heads. Don't know why the rings would be related to what Sylar's doing, but I thought I'd ask.

Seems like a simple gang thing to me, but who knows, Kring and company may be setting it up as something else. Everything about the show seems to be related to something else; i.e. it's very fan involved. If you watch and love this show, there is bound to be a ton of inside winking and nodding for the hardcore fan. I like that about the show.
