The scene with Sylar has opened a cornucopia of questions.
1. "Is he that black man in the bar?"
2. "What are his powers?"
3. "What's up with his room?"
4. "Is there any connection between him and that big rock guy at the top of the 9th wonders page?"
1) No, I do not believe that the black man in the bar is Sylar. I have a theory about that black man in the bar. I beleive he is the elusive DL. I also beleive that DL is aware of his powers and is working for HRG, also known as Claire's adoptive father. I beleive that Claire's adoptive father is some government head assigned to find the "Heroes." Not Sylar.
2) Sylar's powers are very intriguing. First off, we could assume he does not have super-speed, as he was running like a normal person away from the FBI agent. Also, I assume he does not have flight due to the fact that he did not fly down the corridor, which would have been quicker than running. Let's look at what he DID do. He made the Agent's gun point to her head, so he has telekenisis of some sort. Next, he was shot several times, flew back, and then got up. The noise of the bullets hitting something can be heard. My thought was that either he was wearing some sort of metal armor, or that he had rock hard skin. The second seems more probable. Also, he was clothed basically hear to foot, with no skin showing, like he was trying to hide something to get by in public. (Much like the thing's trench coat and hat he wore in crowds.) Then he exits at what we are lead to beleive is the sky. My thoughts are that he can either jump really high, or that he has some sort of spider-man like wall-crawling ability. Then there's the crime scene. His victims are frozen, so he has some sort of freezing power as well.
3) In the third episode, Mohinder and Eden find a room that Sylar had used. When Mohinder goes to fetch the police, the room is empty upon return. I beleive that Sylar took Papa Suresh's research and continued along the same lines, following genetics and such, finding many more "Super" individuals. I also beleive that Eden was a plant by HRG to find more research on Papa Suresh, and that all the information she knows is from the 'bug' that the exterminator was removing. So I beleive that Eden had some of her and HRG's allys remove the contents of the room.
4) This theory (a rather wild one, based purely on speculation) that I have, comes from the thought that Sylar has rock-hard skin. If you look at the rock golem on the front page of the comic that Micah is reading, it has the golem stating that it is invincible. If you follow the trend that Sylar is setting, well not a trend really, just that Syalr is collecting powers, it seems as if Sylar wants to become immortal. A well known Staple for antagonists in stories. If he continues to gain powers, who is to say what he will become? He may find a power that will alow him to grow at will. (The indian from the old justice friends/league comes to mind). All of these powers combined seems to make the user think that he is infact immortal...

Guy from bar is def not sylar, these are from the episode:
White guy....and you can't tell from these pics, but when i watched, it looked like he had a mustache....And also, the guy from the bar,I dont think its DL, heres another little thing i put together. The actor Leonard Roberts (DL) is on the left, guy from the bar and the episode preview is on the right.

Or he uses the same telekinetic power he used to point the gun at the girls head. If he can move her gun with his mind, im sure he can move himself with his mind (kind of flying in a Jean Grey sort of way).

I agree that she's a plant, what she's trying to find out and who she works for, i dont know. Nothing definite to make judgements on yet.

she has to be a plant. she has all the time in the world to hang out with mohinder. she never goes to work!! hahaha
As I understand it, the telepath (Matt?) is in Las Angeles. So Sylar was in L.A. as well.
If he is one individual, how did he get back to N.Y. to quickly to clean out the apartment?
I'm guessing he has some ability to absorb the power(s) of other heroes that he eats the brains of. He was studying how to open the skull (per the book in his apartment - which ties the guy from N.Y. to L.A. due to the frozen guy in the house).
The only hero we've seen with two powers is Hiro to date (discounting the nurse, who appears to copy powers). If the N.Y. and L.A. Sylar are the same, then he has at a minimum the following powers:
1. Telekinesis (gun to head, objects driven into people, picking up people, flight, perhaps blocking bullets).
2. Fast means of travel (from L.A. to N.Y.) - *IF* the storyline was pretty much happening at the same time for Matt and for Mohinder.
3. Possibly regeneration (if the bullets weren't blocked, though an argument COULD be made that a form of telekinesis would allow healing).
4. Ability to freeze people (though cyrokinesis would allow that - if he has a very generic form os kinesis control - he ought to have pyrokinesis then as well).
I believe DL and the Black Man in the Bar are two different people, and as the pictures above show, Sylar is white.
The one thing I really don't like is the apartment being cleaned out so quickly. I believe it is a plot break, made to keep mystery without having a valid cause in the context of the show.
2. He could simply have had an accomplice to clean out his appartment.
But I dont like the appartment clearing either. It would have been one thing for whoever to clean out the incriminationg evidence/pieces of the bigger puzzle, but to clear everything out of the appt. in the time it took Mohinder to get the police...
they have supernatural powers. i'm sure cleaning out an apartment wouldn't be too hard.
i really think some pepple focus a little too much on minor details. who cares how long it would take to clean out the apartment.
the whole idea of the scene is that we're being told that Sylar or one of his accomplices knew that Mohinder was in the apartment and has discovered what was there.

hahaha maybe shes a hooker and works the streets at night to pay the bills, haha.
Eden/Squeeky has been described as a "struggling Bohemian actress" or something like that. However, she did tell Mohinder that she works at an antique book store (the whole Origin of the Species convo.) Bookstore work is probably part-time work.

This is why I say Eden is a plant of HRG rather than Sylar. HRG seems to have people working for him. So if Eden could call somer of her accomplices to get the job done. What I mean is, it wouldn't have taken long to clear out the room.
Upon review of the pictures I take back my rock-looking skin thing, but you could definately hear the bullets hit Sylar...
I also have considered the Jean Grey flying method, and part of me agrees.
