It's partly a hunch, partly putting things together and seeing what comes out.
Micah, Niki and DL's kid has 2 parents with super-powers. His mom has that wierd mirror thingy, and His dad can walk through walls and such. (can their kid only walk through mirrors, sorry, comedic releif)
Would it not make sense for their kid to have super powers as well? If he does, this would also begin to raise questions, such as when will he realize his powers and what will they be?
The youngest of the known heroes is around the age of 17. All the others are mid 20's through 30's. Why are they all finding their powers out at different ages?
Also, we know that Micah is enrolled in a private school of some sort. His mother said that he needs to be in that school. Most likely because he is above average intelegence.
When you add up all of these things, one gets the impression that Micah could easily be a super-genius. The problem is, he just hasn't realized it yet.
It's not that they are all getting their powers at a different age...but the show was edited to appear that they all noticed their powers on the day of the eclipse...like it turned the powers on or something.
Cyler because he was working with a scientist before the eclipse may have had his turned on beforehand. (I need to get better with names.)

Pinhole view-boxes to examine eclipses have been around for centuries; I made one in the 4th grade to look at a partial solar eclipse, myself.
It doesn't take much deductive reasoning to figure out whether someone is a genius or not. Any standardized intelligence test administered by a school counselor or child psychologist will determine this. The likelihood that Micah has been tested in this manner is almost a certainty.
The school administrator doesn't represent what would happen with such a school. Although they would try to discourage having parents who are in an "adult entertainment" career from sending children there, Micah would be positive publicity for them--they could claim credit for molding a brilliant young mind.
Unfortunately, he is far too young for his intelligence to do anyone any good. He hasn't had time to absorb enough general knowlege to be of any practical use. Wait 10 years.

You can't be certain about that. He may be young, but if he indeed does have super-intelligence, than he probably has as much "general knowledge" as any of the other heroes.
I can see him being the guy who is "wise beyond his years" like the kid from the X-Files (it's been awhile since I watched it, so I don't remember his name) little bits of wisdom coming from him at the right time. He'll be involved with everything that happenes I think.
I do like to think he will have powers though. And as for anyone getting their powers early or late, the show is very Lost-like in it's over arching reasons for characters for doing things at specific times and having everything happen for a reason.
Actually, the painter's powers were operative before the eclipse, because one of his paintings was of the eclipse...
But, again, his only worked previously through the help of drugs. It is also not clear as to when Nathan first learned to fly. Perhaps also drug enduced. Peter also started absorbing before the eclipse as seen in his dreaming.
