Default Viewer review - great concept but too gruesome

I really like the concept and I liked the first episode, but I found the murder scenes in the second episode quite disturbing. I don't think they needed to show the gruesome murder scenes in such detail, and it would have been better to leave more to the imagination. I certainly don't want my kids watching this, and I will stop watching if these types of scenes continue to be aired. I hope NBC executives read this. I would be interested to know what other people think.

I didn't think it was that gruesome, but then again, I might have been to de-sentisize (sp?) to violence on TV.

I think it was more shocking than gruesome, but I am not sensitive to violence at all. My kids go to bed at 8 to, so I don't have to worry about them seeing it either. There was only the one scene w/ Isaac & Hiro that could be considered gruesome, and it was just a flash to get the point across really. I still don't find it offensive, but I'm sure there are plenty that do.

There was the other scene with the parents of a small girl who were murdered. The father was frozen and had the top of his head sawed off and the brain removed, and the mother was pinned to the staircase with knives. Call me sensitive, but I think it was unnecessary to show that.

It's television, not reality; the nightly news is more disturbing by far. There was nothing overly shocking or gruesome about what was shown in the episdose. If children cannot handle such information then indeed prevent them from watching it, but it was hardly unnecessary.

Syler has abilities just like they do. They need to show just what the misuse of those powers can cause. The show is on at 9pm at night so I see no reason to pull the punches.

I'd be more worried of my kid watching the news or cartoons where they glorify violence.

I actually think the show almost needs this unusual level of gore. It show's how disturbed Syler is and exactly what he is capable of. Since we know that character are going to die during the course of the show, when the inevitable confrontation between Syler and the heroes occur, it will be much scarier for the audience.

I think the violence was minimal and not any worse than similarly rated CSI-type shows. My 2 pre-teens (10 & 12) had no complaints, but get grossed out at CSI, et. al.

The kind of scenes they showed were detailed yes, but honestly, if thats going to ruffle your feathers, go watch the WB, or better yet, rewind the carebears tape and rewatch that :P

For a show to be great it needs to be detailed. You cant be put in the mood of how dire the situation is for a hero to emerge if you arent shown the things they have to triumph over.
