New to the site. Enjoying everyone's posts and obviously, "Heroes."
A couple of things...
1. Wasn't the gun at Isaac's apartment (the one that Hiro picks up right before the Feds bust in) the same gun that the exterminator/survellience guy dropped at Mohinder's place?
2. Why was the gun even there if Isaac was obviously dead by virtue of his lovely, at-home craniotomy? Shot first, maybe?
3. What the hell kind of gun was that? Did it have a silencer or what? The barrel looked a little long to me. Maybe it is some sort of government prototype or something. Or maybe I just know nothing about guns.
So, if it was the same gun...
2. Was Mohinder or even the Squeaky Fromme-esque friend of Mo's dad at Isaac's apartment before, during or after Isaac's murder? Why? And If so, why bring the gun?
3. Perhaps Squeaky was at Isaac's alone because she is part of the governmental survelliance team watching/looking for heroes?
If it wasn't THE gun just a similar one and the bug dude was surveillance...
4. Maybe the government is cutting the brains out of murdered heroes after Sylar kills them. You know...for research. Maybe the brain disappearing acts are not Sylar's trademark. Maybe the gruesome kills like freezing someone solid or death by cookware is enough for him. iceman was probably dead before someone took a saw to his skull. That would make Mom on the wall not a hero. Maybe Isaac was aleady dead, too and the government guys came in for clean up afterwards.

i think somehow before isaac gets killed, the brown guy and him meet some how? because since its nov 2 or whatever when he gets killed and ny blows up, there are going to be a bunch of events that lead up to it which will play out within the 5 weeks (the rest of the episodes)
Maybe since Hiro has realized his power... and is learning to utilize it more and more each day... he will be able to save Isaac from what the future holds. What Hiro saw or experienced by going forth in time is the future prior to him finding the comic... and realizing that he has a chance to change future events. Which I think is what this whole thing is about. If you or I... realized that we could accomplish certain feats... by utilizing certain so called "powers" that we have... would we use those "powers" or "super-human strenghts" for the better of mankind... or would we use it for our own personal gain... and bring about all of mankinds demise?
The gun is an SVI IMM Pistol. The holes on the top and the compensator push the gases from the ammunition out the top, thereby pushing the gun down to reduce muzzle-flip.
Well, I know this much. I'm pretty damn sure the gun old HRG was pointing at Nathan before he took off on his supersonic journey was that ^ gun...the same model that Squeaky/Eden picked up from the "bug man" who tried to kick Mohinder's @ss and the one in Isaac's apartment from Hiro's vision of the future.

Regarding the cost of the gun. It would most definately not be a government issue gun. These guns are custom-made, each part made to a thousandth of an inch. The gun like that shown in the series with conventional iron-sights would run about $2500-$3000 each.
Typically they would have a trigger pull around 1lb. Just touching the trigger would set it off if you didn't know what you were doing.
The gun is based on the traditional 1911 design (most common in .45), but the lower part of the frame is composite, screwed onto the receiver which is metal. The compensator on the end is made of titanium and is bonded onto an AET barrel which has progressive rifling (starts of straight and curves more toward the business end of the barrel). The whole gun is extremely light. Splits can be achieved with this gun at around. 0.10 to 0.12 of a second (shot to shot times), it's a semi-automatic.
So, you're saying the gun is something that a private, well-funded group would probably use...something like, oh i don't know, THE DEVEAUX SOCIETY.
