The narrator, and certain elements of the show thus far seem to blatently point to God or a "high power" at work in bringing the heroes together to fight the impending doom. I don't think it was an accident that Hiro teleported to the doomsday. I think that he was moved along by God as a warning of things to come, a way to save Issac, and to have an experience that would push him past his idealistic hero-talk (bar scene in pilot) , to a resloved man with a mission. You could see the change on his face.
Also, Issacs paintings of the S symbol look very heavenly, with clouds etc, not very scientific. Ah man, forgot his name, but "Little bro" drew his "S" in the sky above he and his brother.
I'm living kind of near Tokyo now, so I really get a kick out of Hiro, and that fact that I'm sort of close to the action of one of the coolest characters! I also loved the plot twist with the time travel.
Prediction: The cop who will likely get thrown into jail with the lame charges for a night or so, will need to get out of jail to try and stop the next killing, cause he picks up something with his powers while in jail. Then he hears the thoughts of walk-through-walls inmate guy, perhaps thinking about his powers, and has him bust them out somehow to stop the next killing.
Sorry I'm poor with names right now, but the Hindi guy is starting to look like the Prof X of the group.

Or the Sensei in Power Rangers and most other Martial Arts movies/shows (including Karate Kid) or the Obi-Wan Kenobi, or the Apollo Creed (teaches Rocky in 1 of the sequels) or the Dr. Cox in Scrubs (even in some respects John Locke in Lost - esp in Season 1), etc.
Ha! Yeah but he hasn't exibited an unexplained ability to wield knives yet, had any martial arts prowess, or showed himself to be a huge but loveable jerk.

I'm pretty sure that D.L. (the "walk-through-walls inmate guy") is in prison somewhere in New York, and Matt (the cop) is located in LA. But maybe I heard wrong....
i was wodnering about the God thing too. I have noticed some christian imagery sprinkled throughout, but nothing really theory worthy (mohinder's apt-316, the cross on Claire's friend's camera...like i said, nothing major) I'll admit to being pretty ignorant to other symobols of other religions, but if they are there too maybe it coudl be a nice little hint. I know in the comic online Mohinder (who is my fave character, and no powers...strange) talks a lot about treligion.
Wow, I missed the 316 reference completely! I'm not sure God would give someone (Claire?) a murderous dopple-ganger power to stop a coming doom, but maybe it's about choice? Perhaps Cyler is an architype of Satan. Satan was once God's most beautiful angel, until he grew power-hungry and conceited and was cast out of heaven by God and the majority of His angels (maybe the other 'heroes').

Many Hero legends have biblical-esque themes. Most notably Superman where his parents facing a major tragedy (destruction of their planet) decide to spare their son by sending him off alone (in a spaceship) to be adopted by others (the Kents). This parallels the Moses story: his parents facing a major tragedy (destruction of all male children under 2) decide to spare their son by sending him off alone (in a basket/raft) to be adopted by others (the Pharoh's daughter).
yeah, i don't think they are going to tie any specific religion into it, if anything just a generic concept of "God". But i am still interested in what other symbols from other religions there may be that i wouldn't pick up on.
perhaps the religious imagery is there as a pre-cursor to the realization that we are evolved beings and not created by god. the characters on the show have evolved to become what they are, i'm sure god had nothign to do with it. and why would god need humans to help? i thought he was all powerful.
"it's time to evolve ideas. you know, evolution didn't end with us growing thumbs. we're at the point now where we're going to have to evolve ideas. the reason the world is so screwed up is because we're undergoing evolution. and the reason our institutions, our traditional religions are all crumbling is because...they're no longer relevant. so it's time for us to create a new philosophy and perhaps even a new religion, you see. and that's ok because that's our right 'cause we are free children of god with minds who can imagine anything and that's kind of our role." -Bill Hicks-

Hmm. Intersting thought. Misguided, but interesting.
