"The Ripper", "Spike"

The time has come my friends... Joss Whedon is doing more with the Buffyverse!

Joss Whedon and Tim Minear are going to be working on a new movie about Spike the Vampire. I can't wait for that.

Also, There is a new series that is going to come out in England called "The Ripper". The series is supposed to be about Giles and all of the potential slayers, and Andrew as well. However, Whedon says there are a lot of changes he is going to make. I can't wait for this either.

They're really making a movie about Spike? I always liked him, but I don't know if a movie about him is such a good idea.

I think it would be sweet... I think it's going to be about the days when he was evil... Like when he was roaming the earth causing destruction.

I hope so at least... I have always wanted to see a bunch of his past... maybe they could get David Boreanez to make a guest apearance, and Drusilla and Darla could be in it...

Maybe I am hoping for to much... I know I don't want Joss to do it just because people want it... I want it to be good and not just thrown together.

This is a little odd to me, as James has said he won't do a movie if it doesn't get started by the end of next year and Joss is pretty backed up on movies and comix stuff for the next year or so, plus Tim has his own TV show to do and is consulting on Standoff, plus James doesn't mention anything on his website beyond a hope for a movie. :?

Erm. According to Joss, they haven't even nailed down the contract for Tony Head yet. And it's not going to be a series, it's going to be a BBC TV movie. But Joss does seem pretty optimistic that he'll get it done for a winter/spring premiere.

Also, while there's no official word on what the story is, most people agree that it won't be about the potentials.

Possibly a flashback story, with someone playing the young Ripper to get around the fact that Tony is a little old to play his younger self.

I can only hope they skip the BBC America route and send it directly to DVD for the US market. (Curses on you, Comcast, for putting BBC America only on digital cable so I can't get it!!!!)
