Default Odessa, Tx? Really? Where? Cause that was not Odessa.

I like the show - except the writers who randomly pulled 'Odessa, Texas' out of thin air for that girl's home town obviously did no research into it beyond how to spell Odessa. - It's flat out there, there are mountians about two hours away, but none here. And 'the new mall in Gardendale'? Ha! Gardendale is smaller than Od. and has no mall.

Beyond that - pretty good show, I'm intrigued and will watch till NBC decides otherwise.

I mentioned the mountains near "Odessa" elsewhere, and chalked that "oops" to the shooting/film location budget.

It's Hollywood. Do you really think any of them has even seen Texas, much less know anything about it? Frankly I'm just thankful they didn't show drunk, racist, black people lynching rednecks in the pilot. Or oil millionaires with giant ten gallon hats and white boots walking around smoking a cigar.

THREAD MOVED: The "suggestion/complaint" forum is actually for suggestions and complains about THE SITE, not the show.

Uhm I don't recall hearing or seeing a lot about drunk, racist, blacks lynching rednecks in Texas ever. Thought it was the opposite that was the stereo type. Anyway I have been to Texas and as a black person never encountered a racist yet. In fact just a bunch of real friendly people.

As for Odessa maybe that girl is from a small town near Odessa but closer to the mountains. I know people from michigan that live 50 miles from Detroit but still say they are from Detroit because its the closest city people can relate to.

My other explaination is maybe the girl is actually from Odessa, Ukraine! Lord knows she is hot enough but then again there are no mountians there either and she didn't speak Russian or Ukrainian.

Unfortunately not. Odessa = Permian Basin = really, really flat with an occassional quasi-mesa...and lots of huge jackrabbits.

Then it must be Odessa in another reality or on a different Earth. We can accept everythings comics throw at us as far as superbeings and alternate realities but God forbid you show mountians where there aren't some in our reality!!

Haha funny I kind of agree with Sam. I've seen a ton of movies where hollywood totally stereotypes texans as being either rich oil tycoons wearing cowboy hats or racists rednecks.

Suspension of disbelief carries one only so far.
