In an interview, Tim Kring, writer and producer of Heroes, has revealed some possible info on Nikki's power.

Good heads up. I always thought Nikki's power was the doppelganger in the mirror who does things she can't/won't do like kill. Here's a thought for a future episode: Nikki's doppelganger character tries to take the real Nikkie over!

Okay, first that link has been mentioned before in the thread titled SHH exclusive interview of Heroes creator Tim Kring!!! Second, I know SHH spelled Niki’s name as Nikki, but the correct spelling is Niki. Third, it would be nice in such a long interview to know exactly of what which you speak. Is this what you mean?

Really, that can only be a small hint. There isn’t even a hint on how they might explain her powers. Plus, Mr. Kring is only discussing the very first thoughts of making Niki’s power. Who knows how it has morphed due to influence based on some of the comic book writers or even how it is morphed in his own mind as well. To further illustrate this, Hero brought up some links in this thread here which seem to point that HRG was originally thought up as a priest. (That is my own guess based on the aintitcool.com article)

I think it would be interesting to see Niki's doppelganger (if that's really true) face-to-face with the "original" Niki. So far, in the pilot, her doppelganger only showed up and kicked ass when Niki was knocked out.
