I got told at the devoted to heroes forum that posting spoilers from 9thwonders was bad, included in the following list of violations I allegedly performed:
Quote:
Linking to Other Sites
You are permitted to use your signature to link to your personal website (may include a site topic that is already on DFN or another show) or a website you support. HOWEVER, it must not be for the sole purpose of promoting, advertising or to send DFN members to your site.
Moderators have the right to deem any site links "inappropriate" as to the manner it is posted in and delete links to it. Please contact your moderator if you have any questions about this distinction.
Again your posts were DIRECTLY DTH and DFN members to another fansite. WE do not allow this as per our forum posting rules.
Spoilers from Other Sites
We at DFN have our own spoiler system. When we receive spoilers for episodes of shows, they will be posted in the appropriate threads. If you have read a spoiler on another site, please do no post it on DFN. We will only report spoilers that have been CONFIRMED by our reliable sources. Posting spoilers from other sites is prohibited. Your post will be edited, and you will be issued a warning (or the next level of consequences based on your history of posting at DFN)
Again this is a HUGE no no on DFN. We do not post spoilers from other sites. This is a rule on almost any site that you go to about not posting other sites spoilers. It is considered stealing their spoilers and regardless of sourcing or giving credit, 99% of sites online ask that you do not post their spoilers on other sites. Not only are we protecting our spoilers but other sites spoilers in this as well.
Again enjoy the DTH forum and hope to see you around.
H
They are saying 9thwonders is not a reliable source?
Did you notice the rule on sigs?! As a new member there, I cannot get a signature at dfn/dth until 50 posts, so I didn't even violate that rule! Yet they promote an online contest where we get an entry for every different site where we add to our sigs a link back to them! It seems like a double standard, and therefore, although my sig will look like it promotes them, it will only link to the forum in which you see the sig, unless you would like me to remove it. Just thought I'd make that clear - I won't provide links to divert traffic from ya in my sig. 8)
Too many rules! I thought the whole point of the interweb was to get away from all the frakkin' rules.
And that's the first time I've seen such a spoiler rule. I always thought there was a lot of spoiler stealing. But then all my fansites are for shows that haven't been made yet or aren't even around anymore so not a whole lot of spoilers coming down the pike.

If sites don't want others to find out about spoilers they have found out, why tell anyone in the first place? The whole idea about spoilers is to release information that one shouldn't have in the first place! Only people who read one particular site should be privy to spoilers that others would find interesting?

personally I think that spoiler should be posted in every thread from all different websites. If we "steal" spoilers then it is less work than finding them on our own and I am all about easy.
Do we have any rules here? I didn't read them if we do.
Ya know I got banned from another site recently. Not a heroes site though. I couldn't get anyone to explain to me how I broke one of the 10,000 rules that were posted there. Oh well, whatcha gonna do?
You've been banned?!? Gosh, I know a real criminal! 8)
At the sites I usually go to, the only rule is: No personal attacks. Wait, there is another rule: No talking about illegal downloads. Both of those make sense to me.
ETA: And of course the minute I post it I remember the third rule: Always mark spoilers in the topic title.

There is usually another rule: No Foul Language, Racist, or Gay-Bashing remarks and no posting/linking of R-rated material such as nude pics of women Tob probably said something about chicken and got kicked out. It's really late when I post this so forgive the lame joke.

How did you know about the chicken reference are you a spy?
Just kidding, it wasn't even that direct. It was just stupid. They decided that I was a clone just because my wife had a log on at the same sight. Even though we were sometimes posting at the same time. My wife decided to take it as a compliment that she was capable of typing so fast that she could post on two computers at the same time.
So do you remember in my first post how I thought Devoted to Heroes had a double standard with their signature policy and their first online contest? Hard to believe, right?
Well, it gets better!
They definitively stated that they do not recognize 9thwonders as an official HEROES site, and they said they never post other sites' spoilers.
Well, okay. You make the rules and then live by them. At least I credited the source with a link to any spoilers I thought they might appreciate. But check out the following:
